Do air shocks have the ability to lower as much as air bags? and people with bags, hows the ride? Is it stable? hows it handle? and same qusetions for anyone with air shocks. Just trying to get an idea of what its all about. Thanks.

You can't use air shocks as a replacement for coils -- they can't support the weight of the vehicle. You can use them to help a leaf spring setup, but that's about it. Airbags are the way to go. When set up right with the correct shocks, they'll ride as good as, if not better than factory.

well how about handling? I would be afraid of very wash-out handling with something like that..I didnt plan on using air shocks to replace coils, but I was wondering if it could dump the car by letting all of the air out of them like a bag

If you set up the car so you were able to drop the car by letting the air out of the air shocks you would have to be using them as the suspension system. They are not designed for and are not capable of being used in this manner. They are a suspension helper at best designed for those times when you are carrying extra weight and want to stop the suspension from dropping too far. They should never be run with less than 20 pounds pressure as this will collapse the bags and damage them.

most of the kits come with a adapter to fit it to the spring cup

you use shock absorbers with bags and ect so you dont sway

if you set your car to be as low as possible with no help. and then used air shocks to lift it like an ich or two then yes when you "dumped" them itd go lower

  8. I talked to a guy a couple of years back who bagged his '58 Chevy and he said that it handled great and rode great after he bagged it. I'm going to bag my Cad as soon as I get the cash.

Air shocks can become very effective grenades if you try to use them beyond their capabilities!

I bought an old 1974 Roadrunner that sat with a pretty wicked rake. I knew it had air shocks on it, but I didn't know just how high the kid before me had cranked 'em up...till drove over a speedbump and one of the shocks litterally EXPLODED!

The shrapnel didn't kill anyone or puncture the gas tank by sheer luck, but the shock casing looked like someone had lit off a stick of dynamite inside of it! The metal was ripped apart and peeled back, and that shock was blown completely in half!

As soon as it blew, the car dropped like a stone and it sounded like a cannon! I took off the air shocks and put on a set of Monroe-Matics...the car lost it's evil, stink-bug rake...but rode WAY better!
