I have a mid-70's 9 inch axle with Timken bearings. I am having no luck finding the retainer rings that go against the bearing. I have been to all the local parts stores and a few ford dealers. Still no luck. Does anyone know of a source for these rings? The parts stores can get me the bearings and seals, but not the rings. The ford dealers told me they no longer make them. Help. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
check the junk yards, even if you have to buy a cheap pair of axles to get them, those retainer are getting a little tougher to find. I've never seen em new.
TRY ANY OF THE AFTERMARKET REAREND SUPPLIERS,LIKE www.currie-rearends.com ,or www.markwilliams,com or www.dutchmanms.com
ditto on Moser...cheap and simple...what bolt pattern? I may have a set or two lying around...we do not have to use them when installing aftermarket brakes....... Mark
Thanks for the info. Sorry I was not more clear, these are the rings that press against the bearing from the spline side. They are destroyed when you remove the old bearings. I had been told that they would come with the bearings, but I have yet to find a tapered bearing that included the retaining rings. Thanks again.
I bought a new a '77 Ford F100 that I put a F150 nine inch in to replace the Dana 44. The nine inch had the Timken bearings and the replacements came with the more common Ford type of bearings. Parts man said the tapered bearings were not good. The new ones lasted 100,000 miles OK.
