350 SBC....has 327 double hump heads (no holes), short WP, Cal-Custom V/C's, Weiand 4x2 w/ progressive 97's, Mallory tach drive dizzy (it is a Unilite however:rolleyes: ) and headers.....
The engine is painted OD green.....so it doesn't really look 60's in my PU, but the parts fit into the 60's vibe....hopin' for air cleaners for X-mas...hahaha:D .....

Along those same lines, when did it become popular to paint the exhaust manifolds white? Early mid or late 60's?

  19. Not much chrome, spent most of the money for the go-fast equipment.

    335" Olds Rocket.

53 Rocker Covers with short pieces of exhaust tubing welded in and breather caps painted gray and installed both sides.
The covers were painted wrinkle black.

Hex shaped fuel block in brushed finish for the triples.

You can't see it, but the home-made fenderwell headers were painted VHT black.

The chrome plated "Air Cleaners" were about it for the engine shiny stuff.

The remainder is pretty much self-explanatory.

Paint's still a good option nowadays although a pair of shiny rocker covers really help set the engine off.

Nice engines are . . . nice, but imo it's all about showing off the taillights....:D

A couple pics of the 462" Buick engine in my 32 roadster.

As you can see paint - and powder - is still pretty much in use.

Lots more home-made aluminum stuff though.

If you can't make it pretty, at least make it interesting.
Lotsa stuff on the engine and firewall that some folks have a hard time figuring out.
    Seems to entertain them though.

Here's two pictures. One is a picture from a 1960 car show of my roadster with a 322 Nailhead setup. I still have the car (second pic) and recently restored it back exactly the way I ran it in the 1960's (except for the half hood and an electric fan)
