Had one in my 53, I'll have one in my 29. Have to have my tunes no matter what I'm driving. And FYI you can have 1 earphone in Illinois, but not two.
There's a $10 battery radio in my back seat for when me and my gal want to pretend like we're watching a drive-in movie.
stock radio is still in my 49, but it doesnt work... the face folds out and i put a cup holder on it for my beer cans, or coppenhagen cans.
I have a CD player in the '56. Made an aluminum plate to mount that and the gauges for the airbags in the glovebox so the dash looks completely stock with the glovebox door closed. I had one in my old '70 Blazer for about 2 weeks, but took out out because I couldn't hear it over the engine and all the squeaks and rattles.
No intension of putting one in. I shaved the dash and soon to follow the glovebox too. I love the sound of my V8 too much to want to compete with a radio.
I would like to find something that Henry Ford originally put in a '35 sedan but haven't found anything yet. A radio is pretty low on my list of priorities and all the racket the car makes wouldn't make for good "music hall" listening anyway. It would be nice to have something to drown out the whine from the rear end but that really doesn't bother me anyway. If I feel the need for quiet, or a radio, I'll just drive my HHR.........in any case I'd rather drive my hot rod anyway.
I don't have a radio in the truck. I might put one in it and hide it somewhere. Right now I just have the sound of those zoomies crackling.
I'm installing an amp with an iPod input only and some speakers in my truck. No radio. No CD. No nothing else. The amp is easily hidden and I've run the input jack up to the ashtray from inside the dash. I simply plug in the iPod and lay it inside the ashtray. Ahhh...tunes...but...where are they coming from???!? They're cleverly concealed.
