Can I get that on a t-shirt? And you'd better get that engine rebuilt quick - you've got too much time on your hands if you're writing poetry!
I re-read that poem and now I think it is just a fairy tale. There is no mention of rain pouring thru the holes in the roof, nor does it talk about a faulty water pump that breaks down 400 miles from home.
I can not believe it, that I live so close to such a highly talented writer of profound wordage! Awesome!
OK, enough ribbing Jay, I finally had time to read it all thru in one sitting.............damn! I tried to describe a Flattys burble to our receptionist yesterday.................why DO they burble?!
Damn nice job Jay! So does this make you like the Not-So Dead Poets Society of the HAMB? If I had teachers who inspired writing like that I would have stayed in school a little longer. Nice work. C
...gay or not, anyone who can resurrect the hunk of rust holes that he did - is a hero in my book. (and he's not gay - just curious)
Jay - That's awesome! It took me back to the night we took the [thread=143247]Barn Find T[/thread] out on the white dirt roads, with only the moonlight to lead our way, a quart of gas at a time (which equates to two miles at a time). I enjoyed the read, I cannot tell you how many nights I want to head east toward Abilene to take the T for a drive. Thanks!! -mike
A tremendously good piece. I saved it so I could read it again somewhere down the road. Some good lines there, my favorite, "His coupe gallops and leaps to ride the serpent of tar." I know professional writers who wish they could write like that. If they're lucky they get one really good line in a book. Telling a story is one thing, but lines like yours are a rare thing. Excellent....
Man Jay that is to cool man. We need to kruz together sometime.Hey Kerry how about a ROAD TRIP Jay's this spring. Since I can't even get to the shop right now. ICE ****S.
Bumping an old thread, cuz I get to go on a road trip and see an old friend. My road trip isn't turning out like I had planned. But it's still time on the road, rolling across this great country to land in Joplin with all-a-y'all. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=822271&showall=1
Incredible poetry...in HAMB-land. Thanks General, Jay should one day venture Northeast to cruise the Frostian byways, much as he has traveled his own realm's.
Yes. I totally agree. Jay was a HUGE inspiration and driving force for me to get my book done. I don't think I could have done it without his encouragement.
