Just thought I'd share a few pics of my almost finished 65 Crown Imperial. I know it's not really HAMB material, but I figured some of y'all would enjoy it. Paint consists of black basecoat, lots of blue pearl and flake, candy burple and blue lace and TONS of clear. All thats left is wet sanding/polishing and getting it striped.

  2. Nice to see one that doesn't have a number on the side, the gl*** knocked out, and the exhaust exiting via a hole in the hood.

    Scotty,

Cool Imperial man. I really dig the back end treatment from the factory. What kind of motor and trans did these boats come with?

Cool car, Love the big land yachts...I don't know about New York, but around here the Derby rules are pretty specific, No Chrysler Imperials!...

  6. Imperials got the 413, until it was replaced by the 440 - same auto trans as other big Chryslers -

Scotty, you must have subliminally read my mind-- those are the exact caps that i was thinking of putting on my '62 Lincoln. Love the car-- looks great.

You going to the Road Zombie shindig next weekend? If so, see you there.

Funny, last time I saw one of those was in a demo derby and it beat the other cars to death!

I think I'm in love! Good ***le for a thread too, considering they were banned from demolition derby's from sea to shining sea!
My buddy used to have a two door '65 with a 413 in it. We'd run the wheels of it; not beating it, just running like hell. They are awsome cars.

    NICE!

I too have witnessed many an Imperial wreak havoc on other poor demolition derby cars.

I'd like to have one for the street (not a nice one like yours) so every road hog I encountered could get a brake check or a "sorry I didn't see you cutting me off there"....I could do hundreds of thousands in damage without my car looking any the worse for wear.

  13. The Imperials ran the 413 through 65 and then went to the 440 in 66 I have owned a bunch of them. Have derbied several and sold a bunch of others to other people to derby, but never have had a really nice one. I have been looking for a nice 2 door 64-66 preferable or a 67-68 black on black, but they are hard to find in a condition that is worth restoring on this side of the country.

Saw a derby years ago that had two Imperials. after they killed everything else on the feild they went after each other. I was begining to wonder if it would ever end until one of them took out the other cars rear tire. Those things are not Land Yachts they are tanks! Too bad they have been outlawed from derbies.

That car looks fantastic, much better than I thought a mid 60's Imperial would look. The bodywork and paint looks flawless.

    Oh, and **** demo derbies.

I had a pretty nice 64 Imperial convertible I drove while in High School for a while. It was actually my dads but he gave it to me for a birthday or something...anyway he ended up needing money so he sold it...thanks dad.

I am glad they outlawed them, cars are too cool to destroy.

wow! thanks guys. I actually thought these cars were ugly until I built this one.

My girlfriend actually found the car for sale on the side of the road and called me. She said it was a 65 Imperial and that she really liked it. I Immediately said "no way, those things are tanks!" "NO WAY"

Well.......a few months later, I saw a 65 Imperial on craigslist for 2500 bucks and I had to have it. Turns out it was the same car. Funny how things work out.

I'm glad these were banned from destruction derbys. screw those things.

Cool Imperial. I really like the mid 60's Imps - I bought some parts off a guy who had a 67 Imperial 2dr with the mobile executive option. The p***enger seat rotated 180 degrees and had a foldout table and light for your secretary to take notes - A really cool option that I had no idea even existed. Good work on the paint too.

The factory treatments on the 65-66's are kick-***. I used to beg my dad to let me buy one that was rotting away in a neighbors back yard.. we spent hours playing around that car when we were like 10.

Used to know a guy here in town that had a four door. He had it blacked out with the headlight doors/covers fogged green. It looked cool at night, very green hornetish.

I'm taking that the Green Hornet drove one of these?? I'm gonna google that.

  30. The Green Hornet's Black Beauty was a customized '64 Imperial. Might have been done by Barris, I don't remember. Mostly just blacked out, green covers on the headlights, and some Hollywood mag wheels. And of course extra features like the Batmobile or James Bonds' car.
