mostly read the Hamb with my morning coffee. I enjoy the tech stuff and the stories. I went looking for something older than the 50's stuff that makes up most of the junk cars around here. found myself a 1933 Studebaker President 4 door. This car was rodded back in the seventies. It has juice brakes and chevy motor mounts still attached to the empty frame rails. The front fenders are really rusty as with the running boards. The only gl*** is the windshield and the rear window, no door handles or window regulators. But, the main part of the body is in decent shape and so is the floor. I have 6 wire spoke wheels and the original grille shell and radiator. My question is about the door hinges. The front p***enger door hinges are rusted apart and the door is of course off the car. Is there a replacement or can I modify something else?

I'm not 100% sure about the 33, but the 34 I had had one hinge that both front and rear door shared. It looked like a basic house door hinge with a third arm that slid into the "B" post and was held there with two screws from either side. The front door was suicide and the rear door opened conventionally again off the one hinge set up.

If your 33 is similar, you have the option of looking for a 34 / 35 hinge, or I'm sure with a little planning one could be fabricated. Hope this helps you

The front doors are hinged at the front. One hinge is install reversed from the other and they look to be the same hinge. The rear doors are suicide and have what seems to be the same hinges. They are only about 1 1/2" tall and have 4 small screws holding them on. I may have to fab up something, but I think they should be bigger.
