She loves hot rods and I couldn't be happier. I used to be married to a girl who would read magazines instead of watching the cars when we'd go to the races. Now I got one who works on them and loves going to the car shows especially if she gets to hang out with the old timers. I told her we can't break up because I'm sure she'd get visiting rights Saturday mornings with FAB32 and FuelPump:D .

I'm sure you can find a car guy that will take you on a "real" date as you put it. Keep looking! There's a thread of guys here that are looking for a lady just like that! Just don't expect No_Respect to let you too close to his titles!

She doesnt like cars at all but always comes with me to bring home a Merc or shoebox and helps bleed brakes and the such. Whatever wont get her dirty haha. Extremely supportive, 100x more than my ex who was really into cars haha.

  9. My wife has been very supportive, since it keeps me home and not out at a bar. I'd much rather wrench in the garage anyway, the beer is cheaper and I have a better shot at getting lucky at the end of the night. She likes old cars so much that she wanted a convertible and when she found one we bought it so now she has her own. I'm a lucky guy:D

My wife has always been involved in any car I owned.
Shoulda seen her with a hood and big leather welding gloves on while sandblasting my engine compartment.
She isnt interested in polishing she wants to get mechanical.
When we were dating she even changed her own water pump (with a little coaching).
She's a goodun. Hope she keeps me.

What can I say, heres my wife helping prepair the Coupe for flames. She goes to swap meets with me and lets me spend all the time i want shopping. She even tries to understand what I'm going to do with the whatsit I just bought. She enjoys selling our insulation while I'm out looking and actually is better at it than I am. Sometimes I'll be on my way back to our swap space and see a bunch of guys around her, pulling money out of their pockets and walking off with our stuff and I just walk away and let her go with it a while longer. I usually dont sell shit when I'm there by myself. Whats up with that. Lately shes been after me to find her a project. She's tired of me making all the decisions on what to do with my many projects and wants one of her own. She has found a 73 Duster we are going to go look at later. I hope it turns out to be a good buy, It's her turn.

My wife's great. Pre-kids we started off going to rod runs all the time in England, pulling our caravan behind a 56 F100. Then there was a GT40 replica, and when we moved to the States a looooooong list of fun cars! The current long-term project has sucked a lot of time and money, but she's still smiling (mostly).

When this one's (the 55) done, I'm planning to do a lot of road trips - long ones hopefully to the salt, indy, CA in general, so we'll see then if she's still up for it :)

She drives the 64 catalina wagon daily now..

Why yes she is supportive. Gets a little irritated with the mess sometimes but. But I get a little irritated with all of the friggin closets being jammed full of clothes, cause you can't store good stuff outside you know.

    Lets see here she has:
Put up with my traveling for work and 25+ races per year for all of these years.
Said to put A/C in at least one of the cars so she can ride or drive.
Never questioned why we NEEDED a Bobcat to build last shop.
Never asks why do you need all of these parts, tools....
Wants her own toy newer but cooler daily driver.
Wants big new building for all car and truck stuff to be inside and clean.
Understands some cars appreciate, some lose money and some you can never sell.
Told me I could have a girlfriend(s) as long as she never sees them or hears them living in the attic or garage.
Understands I need and will do the wash after races so the machine is clean to do whites.
Never mentioned why car parts are in kitchen as long as they disappear quickly from sight when she comes home unexpectedly.

Compromise has worked pretty well in she gets her things and I get somethings LOL.

It took a long time to find this one. I love her and will never ever marry or live with anyone else after this relationship God forbid anything happens.

Had great chick one time who had to go on a three race tour deal once thought it would be cool and all and after 2 days said she hated cars? WTF? So I took her to airport, bought ticket and waved bye bye. Unlike another who reads here once in a while who just left one of his girls at a restaurant while he went potty. LOL. She showed back up at the track...well that didn't go too good....

They are out there just don't settle for the first deal. Test drive em and look at all of the models. Sometimes you have to look at all of the build sheets and options. Maintenance. Insurance. Cost per mile. If the damn thing keeps telling you the "door is ajar" and that annoys you well look at something else. Lease, buy, loaner, rental? Lots of options and payment plans.

the best and worst thing i did for my wife is to offer to build her a car of her choice. little did i realize that her fave was a vw. now a 67 vw convertible sits in my shop. we have chopped and shaved it and molded in the fenders and now we're getting her a big crate motor. every time my buddies hang out to talk cars my wife eventually redirects the conversation to vw's. drives me crazy... but that's a pretty short drive!

i love her and she is a fabulous 3rd generation south texas dump cook. if she stays in the kitchen, we all win.

Baby, baby relax. You're in. You were first and best. As well your reservations are permanent like royalty and such.

I have space for you in the 'hidden' room over the shop. Secret panel behind bookcase deal you know.

I was also thinking you could just pose as the head baker no wait Executive Cookie Chef, Construction/Destruction Superintendent and Property Director. She'd probably buy that as she hates to cook much and really hates baking but likes COOKIES! (BTW Great fringe bene's, great weather, pool, quiet hood, party street, low pay, every damned store you could imagine within 10 miles, owner cooks some award wining BBQ, lots of pet lizards, toads and two very loving great big damn dogs that like to eat, scare poor Brown Santa and cuddle on the couch too!) This might just work...

  19. mine is fantastic shes allways trying to find ways of getting me to finish my car so we can go racing and never once complained about the cost i even forgot that i borrowed 10gs from the bank and she just laughed and said that new kitchen wasent that much money and i should have borrowed more to finish the car

kitchen was 2gs!! couldent live without her she didnt mind when i was teaching my daughter to grunt every time she heard a v8 and she still loves me

Mine is good about it, she dosent care to lern how to build one but she likes to pick the paint and interior for it

  21. Yep... very supportive.

She's not like some wives who like to hang out in the garage and go to every show/race their husbands go to.

I don't think I'd want someone THAT into it...

Very supportive...She inherited her Dad's '65 Dodge a few years before we met...She was a car show and cruise night junkie. Together we turned it into a neo-Super Stocker for the street.

She goes racing with me every week...she might be more competitive than I am! When I wasted the rear in the Mustang last June, I was going to let it sit till later in the summer. She would have none of that. "Call Mark Williams and get it back together" she said, then helped me drop out and put the center section back in....

When we get some more cash our next projects are a mild bracket-racecar for her and a 32 for me. We've got more plans than an architect.

    Yup. I'm in love.

  24. Thanks for the props!!!! I have always been around old trucks, cars, junkyards and grease.........me core en la sangre! But since I have you in my life I have really taken an interest! It's been pretty exciting to see the truck come together from the frame up. The best part is spending time right next to you!!!!

One of first dates was at the track. She told me she wanted to be my "Pit Bitch." She spent the day changing tires, taking tire temps and pressures, handing me wrenches, strapping me into the car and made sure I always had food & water. I knew she was a keeper. Six months after that I asked her to marry me! Then I proceeded to spend our honeymoon savings on a 62 Ford Falcon Wagon . . . and she didn't even kill me! :)

  26. I just asked her and her first answer was no, after that it was.... well... to a certain point. She says it is all consuming and I don't have time for my wife and kids.

Of course this is her opinion, what is a guy to do?

Is my wife supportive of my hobby? Well... I'd say partially. In theory, she likes old cars, but she tends to get a little resentfull of the time and money they take to build and maintain. It's a lot to put up with, but she has boobs and I have none to speak of, so I guess I'll just make do.

I had a 327 Chevy engine under the kitchen table the first winter that we were together. Never once bitched about it so I figured she was a keeper.
