The Beach Hop is New Zealand's celebration of the 50s & 60s. We get about 1200 registered cars at the 5 day event and over 60,000 people in town to soak up the atmosphere. The 2008 Festival starts April 30th and we're giving away a 1959 Pontiac Catalina Sports Sedan that we recently imported from the USA. The car runs a strong 428 with Tri-power and is under going a make over... How do you win the car? Simple - purchase a Festival Programme for just NZ$5, complete the enclosed form and place into an entry barrell. We'll be making the draw at 4pm on Saturday 3rd May 08. Check out the build up of the car here:- http://www.beachhop.co.nz/2008_give_away_car.htm Here are some teasers of the paint job that NZ paint guru "the Paint ****" did tonight... House of Kolor Kandy Tangerine over silver mini-flake.... Pin striping to come. Not bad for a $5 car..... Would you want to own it? Noddy
You guys are sick! Man I sure wish we had show promotions like that back in the states. Please show us some images when it's done. Someday I'm going to visit that beautiful country of yours
Yeah, we're a pretty sick bunch alright - taking a nice old car and doing this to it. Hey - it'll only cost you about $2k for a return flight to New Zealand - and I'm sure plenty of Kiwis would look after any American heading our way. Have you heard about Kiwi hospitality? Don't you have show promotions like this in the USA? Hell - "Beach Hop USA" has a nice ring to it.... Noddy
Well you had just better get your **** down here then! Festival entries are way ahead of last year... must be something to do with the Pontiac and the rebuilt SBC we're also giving away.... You're in Washington State? A few of us might be heading your way before Bonneville next year.... top secret stuff! Noddy
Here's a teaser. We picked it up from the painter - Steve Levine - check out his website www.imagin-airing.co.nz - last night, drove it 2 hours back to our workshop arriving at 9:30pm. The team got straight into putting it back together. This is after 30 minutes work.... Our target is to have it back together by Saturday. Paint is House of Kolor Candy Tangerine over silver miniflake - you want to see this baby out in the sun..... I can't believe someone is going to win this car for just $5. Noddy
That's it...I think I'm gonna have to get 55olds88 to buy me a programme just so I can say I a Pontiac is only worth $25....***uming I win it, of course! (Apologies to the Pontiac lovers....that car must be worth twice that much.)
B-Hop, Looks like the Poncho turned out great. Sure do wish I had the mula to come on down.I'll bet it's gonna be a ball
Hey Peddro - there are plenty of your Aussie mates heading over. Last I heard Sammy Cooper and Mark Rudolph were telling me to make sure the pubs had enough beer.... Dirt T - the car is LHD, just as we imported it from the USA. We do drive on the "other" side of the road to you, however if the car is older than 20 years we don't have to convert it (in most cases). We could only spend an hour working on the car yesterday afternoon - Jude owns a 64 Mustang and stopped by to give the boys a hand getting the front back together. Concentrate boys.... Noddy
We finished it last week and it will be given away at 4pm on Saturday 3rd May. Purchase a $5 Festival Programme and if you are present when the draw is made then you take it home... The tri-power is actually a rare 1965 GTO set up and is very responsive. The gearbox is a Turbo 400 with TCI 2200 stall converter, Trans Go shift kit with #1 Hurst floor shifter. Power brakes were fitted while the rear end is a stock 3:70. New brake shoes, cylinders and ball joints have been fitted along with an aftermarket trans cooler, new carpets & seat upholstery, Autometer gauges, full stainless exhaust and factory fender skirts. Thanks FLH4Speed! We've had a great response to the car... The only problem is the speeding tickets! Ouch.... Noddy
