I've got a '58 Chevy frame w/the suspension in Iowa that i'm planning on going to get in the next week or 2 so i've been trying to get my ducks in a row and most of the transporters are not coming this way anytime soon or are parking for the season. The trip for me is approx 16hr according to mapquest one way so i'm taking a stab in the dark to see if i can get it somewhat closer.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks
    Tom

I have a friend that transports. He is 1.50 loaded mile, so the charge will just be from there to your driveway. Just thought i would throw that out there for you DatDirtyRat.

Doing the rough math, you might be, say 1000 miles from your frame, say 2000 ballpark round trip, maybe more (but it's a nice drive!). Truck and a trailer, maybe 15mpg? Just guessing. Say 135 gallons of gas and at $3.20 a gallon that's $425-430 in fuel. Wear and tear, tolls, at least one night in a motel each way, insurance on your load (don't forget that!), food and I don't know-maybe 350-400 more. So figure $850 ball park vs$1500 to stay home and work on the rest of your car? I guess it depends on your spirit of adventure and your bankroll.

However, if you do go out there, make sure to stop at the I-80 truck stop not too far over the border. It's the world's largest and worth the trip. Oh, and watch out for all the presidential candidates tramping around out there. They've been hugging and kissing pigs trying to look like real Iowans and might mistake you for a voter and try to kiss you, too:)

If you do make the trip out and are going anywhere near NW Ohio, Alchemy has a front axle and fender he needs transported from OH to Iowa. Maybe you could pick it up for him. PM him for details.

I know...My buddy & I were going over the numbers and thats why i figured maybe some sort of relay...We'll just have to see how things pan out...

Boones...Of course it is...I'm getting all my pieces together to build something special....

As for all the pms i've recieved to 'transport' things...Its up in the air right know and will do what i can if things do work out to help out any way i can..Thats all i can say right now....

    Thanks for the responses!

  8. Trick is to sell a car going west so it pays for the trip out at least.

I'm going from Austin, MN to Orlando FL right after Christmas. Will most likely go through Atlanta. I have a Mini Van, should have room for a set of wheels. Could drive down to Des Moines to pick them up.
Need another set of Chrome Reverse wheels? Have a set of Ford 5 on 5 1/2.

I just made the trip from Bflo,Ny. to Mo. with just an open truck on the way out and that dirt tracker stuffed in the back on the way back. It was 2300 miles round trip and I spent 456.00 just in gas alone. It was 18 hrs to the car, another 5 1/2 down to my moms and 14 back here, it was a lot of driving to say the least.
