Lest we Forget.. Many Thanks to all of you all, past and present..In some shape or form it seems there will always be a threat to our freedoms and way of Life, why is that?...Remember the World Trade Center (more people died at the WTC than at Pearl Harbor)...Lets make sure we stay the Strongest, Kindest, most Tolerant, Benevolent society the Planet has ever known....
Lots of talk about this on the news here. The USS Oklahoma and her crew is getting a memorial finally after all this time. As dad to three members of the armed services, thanks to all who serve their country so we have the freedoms that we enjoy. They sometimes come at a high price. GV
I believe the quote is something like, "Remember the past or you will be condemed to repeat it" I wish all people would remember to thank a vet for the freedom we enjoy every day. God Bless them all!
I was at Pearl for the 50th,I will never forget.only wish my Dad (1925-1989) was alive at that time so I could have told him thanks for fighting them........I still give a thumbs up to a couple of older gentelmen that drive around Tucson with Pearl Harbor survivor plates on there cars
My dad served in WWII also. I could not get any stories from him before he died. I was really interested and begged for stories but he would just get mad. Of all of my friends my dad was the only one who served in the war. He spent time in Europe, Italy,France, and North Africa. Two years ago I got his discharge papers and went to the local Veteran Affairs office with them and believe it or not they actually ordered a re-make of all of the medals he earned and sent them to me. It took almost a year to recieve them but they will never leave my sight. I also had to have his S.S. number. Only one set of medals are allowed per family they said. If you have someone that has passed and had served you could probably do what I did. Thanks to the internet I also tracked down the division he was in. To my surprise he was in the 3rd Division under Gen. Patton. Remember the Veterans, we owe them everything!!!
To those that served & sacrificed thank you! During WW2 both my grandfathers were enlisted and my Nan was too (Australian Women's Land Army). My mum's dad was in Papua. My dad's dad was a pilot in the air reserves as he was a police officer. My Nan's dad served in WW1, fought in Egypt, Suez Canal, France, Belgium, Germany. A member of the 8th Bgde M.G.S, later of the 5th M.G Bn. That is all those educated idiots that think war has no place in modern society, In a way it doesn't but still we need to be prepared if God forbid some major event happens eg Sept. 11 which is our generations Pearl harbour. When 55-70 million people died during WW2 dropping the bomb was still the best way to end the war. Plus the Japs were very cruel towards Aussies, Kiwis, Poms, Yanks and any Non-Japanese people. War has no morality it does not discriminate on race, colour or creed. Man, Woman or child. It is ugly, evil and should always be resolved in the shortest humanly possible time.

Much respect, every day. My wife's parents grew up under Japanese occupation of Taiwan. I used to work in a shop where we sublet from a guy who was a POW in Stalag 17. My grandfather was a See Bee in WWII. Never met him. Pretty soon nobody alive will remember first hand. Glad to have talked to those who were actually there and find out the real scoop; not the revisionist history that someone will put out to support a political agenda. -bill
