    You selling or buying?

  4. Depends on your definition of rough; we've paid as little as $300, and sold the same rough car for $2500, although that was probably a one time only deal.

I dont have any pics. I might be buying it but I need a good price to go by. It has great doors and cowl but the usual rust on the bottom and in the back fenders. He is wanting $650. I am just not sure.

I honestly don't understand why people insist on askin how much something is worth with an extremely vague or non-existant description of the car/part/body and no pics!

If yer that f-in dumb that you can't include the information for anyone to even attempt an educated guess, don't buy it! That way someone else can have a chance at it. If yer worried about takin it in the pants, don't buy it. If you think yer gettin a deal, buy it.

It always boils down to how much YOU think it is worth to YOU and if the jack is readily available. If the guy says $650 and you can only muster up $200, it might as well have a price of $1000 cuz you can't buy it anyway. Peoples opinions vary but you have to deal with the final expense.

Rule of thumb for ya : It's usually worth more than YOU think it is and less than the seller thinks it is. Find a happy median that YOU are comforatble with and go with it. If it doesn't work out, keep lookin. If it does, good for you.

I only look at these "whats it worth" threads to see how bad the thrashing gets.

Can't really tell without a photo as to it's worth. But to give you a little something to go on, I was offered an A roadster body several years back for $850. Good all metal body, working doors, no windshield, no floor (it was to be a channeled car) working trunk with rumble seat conversion hardware. I wasn't sure either, so I hesitated and then it was gone. Still kicking my self for p***ing on it, 10 years later. Can't even get a ****ty fiberglas body these days for under $2500.

If you want to know what it's worth, wait a while and it will end up in swap meet somewhere, and go for more than you would expect. Things just happen that way.

I guess you will have to decide if it is worth $650 to you, and do you have the talent and/or the money to make it a great purchase. If not, p***.

All I was askin for was a ballpark figure of what most are going for! Not a ***hole answer! I have purchased a lot of cars in the past, but just wanted to know if anyone knew a ballpark on them. Thanks for the answers!

Is it local to you? Shipping is always a consideration. Good Doors and cowl are a plus, but it's the small stuff that will dig into your pockets afterwards. Hows the surviving metal/ wood area for the roof? Window garnish? Subframe ? Add up the "minus" stuff and go by that.

The only way to determine if a project is a good deal or what a bottom price should be is to compare your capability to the it will need side of things. Brian

Good comeback:rolleyes: . Here is an HONEST answer. It's worth over 4 times what it was worth in 1980 and 1/4 (or less) of what it will be worth in 2030. Anything in between is up to you, your budget, your ability to make it what you envision, and most important, how bad do you want it.
I say "most important" because if it's your dream car (can honestly say it's what you've been looking for as long as you can remember) the price becomes somewhat secondary. That and the fact there are less and less of these things left of origional manufacture your chances of getting one diminish every day. By the time you make it yours and "realize" the dream it will probably be worth at least double what you paid. An old saying, "you snooze, you loose". I've proven the truth of it several times in my life.

LOL Is the rope "rough" or in decent shape? Do you have pics of the rope so we could give you our opinion of how long we think it is? Would it really matter how long we thought it was or are you just askin cuz yer too dam dumb and / or lazy to make up yer own mind? (Not you Tman, just askin a general question) :D

I remember I thought a rope was about 12 feet long one time, but that was years ago. And I know you've probably measured "a lot" of ropes "in the past" and was just askin to see what everyone else thought but maybe yer rope might be slightly different than the ropes I have seen lately or maybe yer rope is in a different part of the country than the ropes I typically measure. That could make the length of yer rope completely different than some of the others out there.

Hmmm... lots of good info in this thread. Way to go Onelow! You have tapped into a real wealth of information here. Don't get yer ******* in a bunch when you ask a stupid question and don't get the exact answer you were lookin for. If you have purchased "a lot of cars in the past" use yer immense amount of knowledge that you have gained over yer 22 years and figure it out. But since you wanted a "ballpark" figure... go buy yer $650 Model A and start doin something with it instead of wondering if you should buy it. If the doors are as good as you say, I am sure you could sell it for more later if you decide you don't want it.

Tman... love the question. Had me rollin!!!

  16. Thanks, yer reply did the same to me!:D

I sold a rope once, for a lot more than I thought it was worth. Then I saw the guy who bought it hanging out next to it. "Wow, what a nice rope!!" I said.
He said "It used to be yours".
Funny how rope values change from time to time.
