I know people that like to build, people that like to drive, people that like to be seen, etc, etc, etc. I don't know what the bigest draw is for me do you?

I got a shine on my boots and my sideburns low

With no perticular place to go :)

  3. I love, love, love to build a car and the drive the shit out of it every day. Going to those "so called" cruise nights (park nights) is not for me.
    Car shows are cool, too.

The best part is the people. Friendly, clever, artistic, very creative. And everyone has such very interesting likes and dislikes. The people in hot rodding are great.

The feeling of accomplishment knowing I did it myself. I also like the questions I get when someone asks what I'm building. It really amazes me the looks you get when you mention that you're building a car that will be driven. Priceless.

It's all in the hunt: Swapmeets or a run down a gravel road. There's nothing better.

I like the build, too. I also like the edge it gives me, as in 'will I drive this thing before I die.' (Don't mind me, I'm turing 61 next week.)

Setting a goal to build something..accomplishing that goal, AND being able to drive what you built...unbelievable satisfaction..a satisfaction that many people without a "hobby" like this will never experience..
I can't honestly choose just one aspect of hot rodding that i like most though..i get too much from many aspect's of it to do that....
But, i will say i do love to build stuff. That's what started it all, and also where i find my escape from life's reality...

The best part is the CHASE !!!

Hitting all the swaps, farm junk piles, abondon cars pushed off cliffs or in the river bed, the old guys garage of leftovers.

Finding that ONE part or the scoreing of a Model A pick up for $300.00 :D

Thats the best part for me... the reward is when ya Fire it up the first time !!

The build and driving the piss out 'em - equally! A big event like the Lonestar round-up is fun, but other than that, I'd rather stay away from shows. Drag racing events are the best.

Being around old tin, and seeing the different things that people come up with and build themselves. Spending time with my buddy and bottom line cruising in something I have had my hand into!!!!

    The hunt and the build

  18. The build, and the pride, and doing it "my way", and looking forward to driving it the whole time I'm building something. Just thinking about what it's going to sound like the first time I fire it up is enough motivation for me to keep plugging along on projects year after year.

Driving it is cool for a while, but then I get bored and want to start building again.

If I had to narrow it down to one thing, I'd say the pride in being able to say I built it myself.

  19. I also like the smell of bacon and eggs frying at 6:00 AM on a cold rainy morning at swap meets, looking through endless piles of junk for the parts I need. :D

The anticipation during the build. the pride in doing it your way. Doing it all yourself. Then the all too brief "honeymoon" period of driving it, followed by the excitement of the next build.

I need a car, I need to be creative. I build a hot rod and get to create a personal expression that also fills a vital roll of transportation. How cool is that?

Finding the parts, making them fit. Loudass V8 and Gs that set you back, shifting gears, scaring citizens, scaring yourself.
Car shows pretty much suck except the parking lot and setting by your car in a lawn chair..well I guess if it's B"ville and your waiting your turn.

The challange, the fun, the heartache and the triumph. It helps remind me why I started working on cars in the first place while i'm buried up to my neck in newer cars all day. Ugh.
