Finally got to Kenny Barnes's place and took some pics. They are posted here http://edholio.smugmug.com/gallery/3961680#230172614 If you click on the pic or place your cursor over the pic a caption will display describing the vantage point and what is in the pic.

It actually worked out really well that I was not able to take pics in the evening. Kenny pulled in right when I got out of the truck. So, I got the dime tour. These are the things that I remember from the half hour I spent w/Kenny.

    - 1/4 mile all concrete
    - 16 staging lanes all concrete
    - 15 acres of pits all concrete
    - concrete barriers length of track
    - all bathrooms are air conditioned
    - all Musco Sports lighting
    - track has its own ambulance
    - track has its own fire truck
    - all timing is fiber optic
    - waste disposal for motor homes
    - digital scales
    - no curfew
    - will run both 1/8 and 1/4
    - conforms to ALL 2009 IHRA and NHRA track specifications

My .02 worth. This will be a SUPER NICE track. It is national event quality track.

Thanks for the info., Big Dad.

Yeap just rite around the corner from me, They have been supposed to pour the concrete for the last year and a half. Not sure waht the problem is but it sure will be nice once it is poured. As of Friday night when i drove by it was not poured. I sure cant wait to schedule a Dirtys's second annual drag race

I drive past this on the way to work and back every day. Sign still says "coming late summer 2005"! Git it done already!!!!!!!

Paving contractor put out one of those trailers with their logo on it as a sign out front... been there about a month or so. No pavement as of this morning.

I really hope they can get it done and make it work, but rumors I have heard is that homeowners nearby have been fighting it because they don't want a noisy drag strip in their back door. I heard the city were trying to back-pedal out of their agreement when homeowners started complaining.

People move out there because its quiet and other reasons. Its no different than if a housing subdivision were built and an airport was planned after. Had the buyers known, they might not have bought a home there. Some will argue it brings down their property values.

Me being a car guy, I probably wouldn't mind it, I can just see why people might be giving him grief.

There might have been concerns about the pouring due to the excessive rains we were having for a while. I don't know.

Hopefully they can pull it off. I wonder sometimes how long Red Line will last the way that area is growing with new homes

OT - I wish someone would built a good track in NE Louisiana. The one in Monroe, LA has deteriorated to the point where a lot of racer have quit racing there. Man if you live in East Texas there is a ****load of tracks 2 or less hours away.
