Without starting the dip to strip debate for sheetmetal, was wondering if anyone has had experience with American Metal Cleaining Inc. out of Toledo. Here's the claim on their website http://www.americanmetalcleaninginc.com/services/automotiveservices.html "Our automotive services include stripping the paint, dirt, rust, undercoating, light bondo and seam sealer in a totally non-destructive manner. We can also clean in between the seams throughly without leaving any residue behind to "bleed out" during or after painting." Couldn't find much on a forum search, thought I'd solicit. I'm contemplating dipping the body off my '50 Chevy Fleetline to cure the rust. I've reviewed many of the posts about dipping for derusting and am real afraid of it at this point. They've got a pic of another '50 Fleetline just out of the tank on their website....made me drool a little . Thanks.
damn...I used them about a million years ago to clean a few panels, and my aluminum intake manifold. At the time, I was very happy with them. I'm talking like 15 years ago. I was in highschool at the time, and they treated me very well. -Brad
I have a few parts I may need to take over there too. I had a pair of '67 442 front fenders stripped in this maner at least 25 years ago and they came out great. I don't even know if that shop in Ft. Wayne is in business any more.
I went to school with the owner, had some stuff done a while ago and was pleased. He retired and his wife runs it now, dealt with her once with no problems,I think the work is fine but dont know if prices are in line with other shops.Where are you located?
I've used them regularly for over 10 years. A few thoughts come to mind: Integrity Honesty Quality Prompt Delivery Compe***ive Pricing I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation. Greg and Laura, the owners, are hotrodders, to boot! And they have the coolest shop dog I have ever met. Tell Laura I said hi. Dan This shameless plug is brought to you by a satisfied customer!
I have used them for years. Their pricing can be a shock sometimes, but they do excellent work. To do a whole body, you are looking at $1000 and up. The shop dog is neat.
Thanks to all. Yeah, I had a bit of sticker shock at around $1700 for the body. I don't mind the investment if it won't come back to haunt me later. Maybe I do want to start the to dip or not to dip debate. Anybody have any comments on their claim about no seam seapage down the line? Anyone out there had any problems after the fact with their process? They claim a non-destructive process, but don't elaborate. I'm not surprised at the good customer service. Laura has been very helpful in getting me quotes, etc. BTW - I'm soon to be in Columbus. Thanks - Jeff
wow i didn't realize how many hambers are so close by....39delux you are about 20 minutes from me hahaha thats cool
Small world. I have a couple of buddys in West Unity too. One has a yellow chopped F1 with black flames on the front. Ever see it? I might drag my inner fenders over there. I have been dreading cleaning them up for paint.
