there i go thinking out side the box

  2. in georgia, a ***le is not required, only registration or bill-o-sale. i do have a ***le with the merc but it is a texas one. it is a good question, but my guess is the ***le would say 4-door, but as long as the vin is the same, alls well. i do have pics troughout the build so im hoping not to have too big of a problem. man, what a list i would have if i had a vin from every vehicle i robbed a part off of. now you have my curiousity brewing????

by the way, thanks for the comment ABONE. its been alot of work, since feb 2007, but the rewards are unimaginable. go for it BOBBY

listen man its all in good fun ,a little ribbing never hurt anyone, there are alot good people on here willing to offer up their knowlege and ideas and opinions , -so this follower **** you are slinging is ******** - you must be a leader so step up to the plate and help the the guy -joe

  6. hey sldmatt, how about posting a HOW-TO when it comes to chopping and bending the side window stainless. im messing around with it a little and got a bunch from 49-51 fords to help it go a bit easier. the tricky part is that when leaning the b-pillers, the trim has to be bent too. a bit hard without kinking it. also, if anyone is interested, if you chop the merc and want to retain the tipout back side window, a six side window drop down Hudson rear tip out window frame is a direct shoe-in (damn, say that 10 times fast - or slow)!!!!!!!!!! thats with a 4 to 5 inch rear chop though. true, but had your mother any direction previous to your birth on the outcome she may have tried to go another way...like the clinic

  13. the moredoor is a 51 and the donor shell for the twodoor conversion was a 50 and thats the back window i was wanting anyway. i sliced the top, layed the window down, and moved it forward about 3 inches.

your right chopping a top isnt rocket science , but it does take thought and planning , just going for it and not thinking kinda sounds like ****ty advice from a leader like yourself ,
i think everyone here wants to see him achieve his goal --and not f--- up his car like you f--- up the english language -- so stop your negitive ******** - and get a positive at***ude -maybe that will help your spelling to --joe

a saying came to mind that fits the subject and hak's nonsensical rambling interjections...you have to know the rules before you can break them. there are a few exceptions to this but they come infrequently. if you aren't intelligent enough to comment in a helpful manner when a guy is looking for some advice, you don't belong around here. you can see by your warm reception that it is not appreciated.

    oh yeah, try www.dictionary.com

Agreed,it's a lot better to ask a few people that have done it then waste your car.The only dumb questions are the ones never asked.

first merc i chopped was a $20 model car. gives you a 3-d perspective on what happens after you remove a chunk of metal and what needs to be done next. and here is a pic of the stainless i do. the stainless doesnt like to play when you start leaning the post quite a bit. so i just make new ones.:)

Every now and then, when I'm out of reading material, I'll pick up OSR or CKD..........In the latest issue of Car Kulture Deluxe, there's the second part of an article covering Bill Hines and Brad Masterson Chopping a 49 merc 3 inches. It's a two door, but if you find the last 2 issues, it may be handy to have the pictures for reference.

I dont know about that....I started a thread about it, cant find the rest of the article tho...

What were they doing to that poor Merc?? It looked terrible thus far (from what I saw I believe in part 1) They were raking teh windshield way back, screwing with the decklid....what a circus. And that had to be the hardest way to do the a pillars....Thats got to be the easiest part, but Hines and Masterson cut it into like 5 pieces, like a puzzle. I dont get it...

Here are some shots of a friends 2 projects here in town. The black and white one is a 4 door to 2 door conversion, he lost interest, decided to re-work the back window and sell it to finance merc project #4.
