While that's open, post the feature on the Neuman Roadster! It's a fine read on high-end teenage rodding!

It's become much harder to find a "good" shopping cart-the ones I've picked up lately don't have the heavy duty wheels that the ones of 30 years ago had. In fact the weight of my EL-8 ran the plastic tread right off the swivel casters. And the design of the ones featured in the magazine doesn't exist in these parts.

I have a friend who works in the s**** metal business in the next little town over, i think i might have him keep his eyes out for some good seat fodder!:D

The Neuman roadster is awesome, you're right Bruce. I will be glad to scan that article as well for you. There's also a great article in this particular R&R about grille treatments. Viva the little books!

by the way, did anyone find the Neuman roadster? I saw a post on here posing that same question from December 2004, but no definitive answers.

Funny you should ask that. You just jarred my memory! It just occurred to me that a friend of mine, mickey, up in Cedar Springs (by grand rapids) MI actually refurbishes old shopping carts at a shop. He's a welder there! How could i have forgotten that! Boy, if this shopping cart thing catches on, maybe they won't have to refurbish them. they can just sell them to hot rodders. haha

Very cool, i searched for keywords "shopping cart" and yielded no results earlier. Don't happen to have a link do you? I'd like to check that out.

it was worth a shot... if you see a flat black 54 chevy 4dr. turned 2 dr. kinda g***er styled with a bamboo sort of interior, that's Steve. He's a good guy.

Neuman was one of the rodders who did those interviews on the HAMB a year or so ago. I had just been reading that very mag, and of course I have the later R&C article when it had a Chevy engine. I asked, and he talked about the car and his hunt for it... sounded like he knew about where it was in I think Arizona, and I think he had clues and information he didn't want to discuss. I had the feeling the car was essentially located and the parties probably knew about one another but weren't talking to one another... just ***umptions on my part. It seemed he was pretty certain car still exists and is intact.

  30. Figures, I could have bid on about 30 shopping carts at a surplus auction a while back. They sold for all of $100 for the lot.

That said, I don't think I've ever seen one with that shape to it. But it probably wouldn't be hard to bend up some tubing to match it.
