I got my body on my frame (AV8) and it is a pretty tight fit. Anyways, what are you guys doing for room when it comes to the oil fill tube? Ive seen a couple of cars with an angled oil fill tube but im not sure where to get them. Any suggestions on making it fit? I know i could notch the firewall but i dont want to if i dont have to. I dont need a WHOLE bunch of room but i need it to fit. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Cut up a good valve cover as a relief in the firewall.....

i reversed the firewall and put on a later 49-53 intake and capped the oil fill tube in the rear to utilize the one in the front.

i made a fill tube with a slight kick forward out of 1 3/4 exh. pipe, with a road draft style filler. or with no fenders move the body back a little bit... this one is moved back about 3/4 from orig mounting holes...

I have a '29. I can not find a picture of mine but I took the top off of a pvc glue container. The screw cap and the top of the can where the cap screws to. I jb welded this into the top of the fill tube above the fuel pump. (I am running a mechanical pump.) This way, I can unscrew the cap to add oil. I have a vent put in the front on the intake manifold. I know this isn't the best for venting the block but it has worked so far.

Oh, the other tip, I beat the firewall with a big hammer first to get as much room as possible.

Yeah if you're doing no hood and no fenders moving the body back a little bit isn't a bad option. But I know you just got done setting up your frame and this will F* up how good your wheels line up in the wheel wells...

If moving the pipe/breather part of the ***embly would do the job, the cl***ic way was a Lincoln V-12 filler tube, which kicks over at about a 45 degree angle. If there aren't any Zephyrs in your local s****yards this week, any muffler place could easily make one or get you a sutable section of exhaust to havk on, and some guy in the LZ owners club makes repros. Another solution is hose from capped off pump stand to a small breather tank on firewall...with luck, one from an old sprint car.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

ZOMBIE- I do have the body on and I want to keep it where it is. I might try to make some kind of a pie cut on the original and see if i can tilt it inward. hmmmmmm...

Ford piece '35-48 is awfully short to mess with...LZ comes up straight for a very short piece, curves dramatically, is probably 8 or 10 inches of tube. '34 Ford stand has very long tube, probably enough to curve. I think a piece of exhaust bend welded to Ford stump might be easiest.

Note that stand is functionally identical to Ford and has same bore for tube, though some Lincoln castings have an extra boss for something. I'd think a muffler shop could whip up a custom bend, and then it could be cut to start even quicker than the Lincoln curve.
That piece appears on lots of A-V8's in old books.

If you think it tight in a A bone, look at a 34 sometimes I have to cut my fuel pump stand off most of the time.

See the post above. Sources on the LZOC site. Tube only, rest is same as Ford. Tell them it's for your '39 Zephyr, do not mention Ford!

My flathead fits so tight I can't use the fuel pump stand. I made my own oil filler. Just cut a flange to mate the fill pipe to the intake.
