When I bought it I got the stainless bezels and glass lenses,but no buckets to mount them. I like it better with the side markers. Unless you are going to make it full Custom. DeSoto grills are bitchin. Check out my buddy's 51.

i might have an extra set of buckets when i get closer to the end. ill keep you informed if your interested. koppak sent me his at no charge and im a firm believer in keeping the ball rolling. i cant let the extras go till i get closer to the end though.

 

Here's SlddnMatt's old 51 Merc. Too bad he sold it! His new one is supposed to be in much better condition.

 

ya he emailed some pics to me a while ago. that thing is totally cool. one of the nicest 51 rear window treatments ive seen on a chopped merc.

Can't tell if that's sarcasm or serious! I'm not trying to "UN-custom" my car. It had some things on it that I didn't like,so i've been slowly changing it to the way I want it. You'll have a different opinion when it's done. The changes are for the better. IMO,of course...

I got some really bitchin spotlights,but with my shortened steering column,there's no room for the handles. Might look for a stock column and switch it out.

 

Sure you're not on the Merc restorers board as well Bob? Ha Ha! A proper Merc column would be better of course.

 

I'm gonna find a stock 49 also. Completely stock! That would be cool.

Thanks. It's slow,but family seems to come first. Now that my younger son has a job,there's less"dad I need some money!".

If you remember,awhile back. I drove it to the Primer Nats the last two years...and came home on a flatbed BOTH times,LOL! Not affraid to drive it! Even with it's quirks...The issues are slowly going away. I don't care. That's what makes it fun!
