A friend of mine found this thing while crusing through a walnut orchard on a farm near my house. It's pretty wasted, but I know how 1936 stuff is getting harder to find. I was gonna get it for myself, but I don't have the knowledge or time to take something like this on. I'm gonna see if I can go back out there and get it anyway, and hack it for parts. So, if someone out there needs some parts, let me know and I'll see what I can do to snag some stuff off of it. From what I can remember ,It spent most of it's life upside down, so the floor pans and rockers seemed to be okay.
Not that bad. My 32 coupe is in WAY worse shape. That things actually pretty nice. I wouldnt part it out. sell it to somebody on here or put it on ebay!
It is worth picking up and reselling, It is better left to a pro imho. It's Jim Sibley restorable. I will just save up and buy one that isn't that roached.
just put some flat black on it spray the rims red and put it on the ratroddersjournal i bet you could get a good ten grand off of it
By the looks of things, it has spent some time on its roof and side. The good news is that the frame and floor are probably solid as well as the lower sections, tailpan etc.( this is the stuff rottted out on most others). Find a rotted out donor car with the bottom half waisted and you are in business. Replacing the top is a whole lot easier fix that replacing the bottom. I'm doing this with a tudor sedan and the only seams will be on the pillars.
Was that the Turtle Wax test car? Its holding up nice. I'd like the dash to put in a model a coupe....
I can see a 36 convert/roadster there!. To me that body looks really good. Save it! This is a pic of Alfonso Cevola's Mum and Dad on the day they took delivery of their brand new 36 Convert. Both were 21 years old. Living the American dream as it was....
See the ripples in the log, thats maple with flame in it, makes good guitars! save the wood and give that peice of scrap to me!!!!..; ) ...Roach.
Damn, you guys are killin' me with some of those responses. That's some funny shit! Seriously though, I figured these would be the kinds of responses I'd get. From the sounds of things, it sounds like something really worth pursuing, so I'm gonna try and head out after or maybe during the holidays and grab this thing. I'll keep everyone posted on what's up.
You combine that with a car like one my friend has which was cut down on the sides to be a stock car body, but was a spare and never used, and you have yourself something decent. Usually it's the bottom that's all rotted to shit and hard to find, the top part should be easy -
Looking at the firewall I can see the 2 small holes for a body number tag...their right above the patent date tag( still on this car) about 5" were the firewall lays back. My 35 is the same way...No body number tag but it has the Ford Patent tag. I was wondering if my tag was missing as it also has the holes and no tag. But after seeing this car I think?? all the firewalls had holes punched out for a tag, But if the body was assembled by Ford then no tag was affixed. If it was assembled by Briggs, Murray or Budd, then it would have a tag and body number. Can anybody confirm ?
