A bunch of mice nests and turds, yellowjacket/wasp/whatever nests, dirt, seeds, but no gas left. Gross.

This kind of **** is going to give me lung cancer. Oh well...onto the cowl vent. I got one with the pickup cowl I made my windshield from, so I wanted to use it. Cut...

And splice. Still have to make a filler piece for the rest of the gas cap hole, and weld the rear lip of the vent opening up.

Also got my steering box mounted this week. Used some 1/4" plate and boxed in the front and rear with 10 gauge. F100 steering box. Still need to drill the forward most hole.

Haven't decided what I'll be doing tomorrow or Sunday...been thinking about tearing the rear end apart to find out what needs to be fixed

What? No snakes or live mice? We have chicken snakes around here, I like them because they eat mice. They shed their skin, I find it in the damdest places, usually scares the **** out of me.

I pulled 38 walnuts outta one once. Then I flushed and starting clogging fuel filters. I like model a cowl gas tanks myself. Speaking of that dirty old gas tank I wonder how that old girl turned out, sold it on the hamb.

Here is what's filthy as hell because it's too cold and wet to move it outside, and I don't have a cover for it.

Thanks everyone. Here's what got done today. It's only 6:00 now but I'm beat. Been crawling over this thing like it's a jungle gym all day.

Finished patching in the cowl vent.

After cutting the rest of the flange for the tank bottom off, I cleaned up the areas where the tank top met the body. Then I set it on top and welded it in a few places on the inside flanges so it still looks like it's bolted on. I wont weld it all the way around, but a few beads here and there, then some seam sealer around the rest to seal it up. I had to drill the screws around the firewall out to get the tank off, so I just welded what was left of the screw into the hole on the tank top. I'll smooth those out, you wont be able to see how it's attached.

I cut the dash rail (I guess thats what it's called) from the windshield frame and started tieing it into the cowl. Started in the center and worked my way out. Also started rounding off the top of the cowl where there used to be a windshield post. Going to tie that in with the dash rail. Still some filling in to do.

If you don't like "mouse poop", you would not like Arizona!

Out here the rats build nests using cholla (sounds like "choya") cactus. It is an evil kind of cactus that is very sharp, and once it gets stuck in you, it's hard to pull out. I am painting a '70 Charger that has been sitting for 20 years, and my fingers keep finding it in the blind corners. #@$&*@!

Years ago I bought a '62 Vette that had been sitting in the desert, and when I opened the trunk, it was packed to the top with cholla! (and rat poop #$@&*!)

  19. Cool Cutl***...I have a little sweet spot for 'em. :) I have to say that I like the Astros a bit better than the Cragars...but I think that's cause I was around in the '70s & '80s when it seemed like Cragars were issued along with your high school ID card, so everybody had 'em. Still close to the same look, anyway. (and, of course I'm perfectly free to go  myself, since it's your car & therefore what I think doesn't count. :D )

350, some head work and a mild but lumpy cam, Edelbrock Performer intake and carb, th400. I liked the Astros too but when they needed to be replaced I didn't want to just buy more of the same. The Cragars make it look a bit more mean I think.

  21. Carefull with all that mouse poop, it can harbor HANTAVIRUS, nasty ****.

Yup. When I cut the tank open I had my mask on. I stopped long enough to take the picture, then it went straight into the dumpster. Turned the fan on to blow out the shop while I swept the remaining **** up.

Lazy today. Finished filling all the gaps and cleaned it up. I'm no Brian B*** but I tried metal finishing it some. Guess it takes practice...and probably better welding skills....and better nunchuck skills :D

I did my best to leave a gap between the tank top and the belt line area to keep it from looking like one piece. The windshield will hide where I started welding it together. I've got a lot of re-shaping to do to get the bottom of the windshield where it needs to be.
