so it IS red now haha. Yesterday I saw that red truck on TV and I was thinking "Wow, those guys on Rides copied someone elses truck when they made that custom bed" I liked the flat black better I think.

ah! shitastic, scumtacular, and thankfully 'one of a kind'.
wonder if it'll rip itself apart in the same manner as their airbag installs occasionally do. poor thing.

If I had a hot rod on eBay with a high bid of $135K, I can guarantee you it wouldn't say "Reserve not met" next to it.

Besides, that thing looks like a bar of melted soap with a windshield. I'm willing to bet you couldn't get half that money a couple years from now, even if you stored it for the duration in a plastic bag piled high with bags of silica gel. I guess $135K can't buy taste.

i agree with Flipper about the absurdity of the angle of the front posts and dont like anything about the truck but having said that I also think that this thing is so far out of the realm of 'CUSTOMS"that It could better be analyzed by readers of Sport Truck or some other fourom that has nothing to do with traditional hot rods or customs

no, actually we're doing fine tearing it apart. proper lines and tasteful mods have nothing to do with "traditional" or "contemporary".

I walked aroung the truck several times trying to figure out exactly what they were trying to accomplish when they built it and finallly decided they didn't really have a plan in mind, just started cutting and welding and when the smoke cleared this abortion was standing there. Frank

If you saw the show that's exactly how these guys operate. Cut twice, look, and cut some more for good measure. The shoebox on that episode looked neat but they had to show this POS instead.

BTW I thought somebody said the balljoint came apart at Autorama. (I wasn't there at the time but did see this thing a few days later at the show.) If that is true then I guess I would think twice about the frontend products they manufacture.

At the 2005 Detroit Autorama they are supposed to debut the Deuce Roadster they had on the show. They heard Foose wasn't gonna be there so they waited a year to try and beat his $43 billion project. (why somebody would spend that kind of money for a trophy is beyond me)

  10. Here you go. I fixed it. Maybe the builder will see it and make the changes. Do you think I should get royalties if he does. [IMG]

Yeah, seriously. Like that Foose-Titus Chevy roadster isn't anywhere near traditional, it's billet-aluminum as hell, but at least it does SOME things right. This thing does nothing right as far as I can tell. Everything about it looks wrong. I honestly wouldn't drive it even ONCE if someone GAVE it to me.

correct me if im wrong...but isn't this the truck that was built and 'finished' and then it was figured out that the front wheels would'nt fit or turn or something, so they started cutting until it 'worked'????

pretty good advertisement for their suspension kits...

  18. me personally, I am not a huge fan...........not just because it isnt old skool but because I dont like the changing of the front sheetmetal. I hate when people cut and weld shit up just because they think it makes their ride custom. I bleieve your car (or truck) should make a statement, but it should be done by flowing with the lines and scheme of the vehicle, not by jsut cutting off and welding anything in sight on. sorry for the rant.

In terms of taste and all-round appeal, a '55 Nomad, '55-'57 Chevy pickup or panel, or '53-'56 Ford pickup or panel that's stock but with a lower stance puts this truck to shame.

  20. I'm a little lost here. For 150k or whatever do you know what I could have? No, well I'll fuckin' tell ya-

    -Absolute Kill A w/ blown hemi -- 50k
-Absolute Kill kustomized new extended cab (w/ twenty fo's) -- 40k
    -Absolute Kill waverunners -- 20k
    -Absolute Kill Knucklehead -- 25k
    -15k to piss away

No understanding why someone would pay that much for that thing. It's not the Hiro Merc. or the Piederson Coupe for God's sake!

Forget about whether you like the looks or not, the part that bothers me is the statement they posted on e-bay:
"All of the sheet metal on the truck, from the fenders down to the bed, are handmade"

Infering that it is all new metal shapped by hand - like a Marcel & Sons or Steve Moal craftsmanship kinda thing...

We'll that's not what I saw beeing built on the show. What I saw was an old truck body being (crudely) torched apart and welded back together.

Which is FINE if that is how you choose to build it, but don't try to make it sound like it's something other than that. It's plain dishonest.

But the bids are still going up....power of the television I guess.
