Not trying to steal or dilute this thread, but there should be a tag something like this somewhere on the tank.

This came from our tank, and if anyone can tell me for sure what type of aircraft this is from I'd sure appreciate it!

The contract no. matches some parts I found listed for a North American F100 Super Sabre fighter. I might be wrong but I think the 67 in the contract no. is the year it was issued, 1967.

The contract number say's it was Air Force Contract issue in 1967. You should be able find everything you need to know by looking up the MIL Spec. "Mil-T-7383

I guess the only thing that counts is how it all gets put together, there would have to be kind of struture to support an engine and all that it takes to make it stop start and live to talk about a belly tank Car. This would be a good project for an Aircraft structures type guys that are capable of making mono**** stuctures inside the tank.

  7. any way... on with the show .. do scta rules allow such contraptions and the cl***/cl***es it would be able to run ...
i know this is along way out there

I'm pretty sure you could use dual tanks... Its still one vehicle. If the wheels fall INSIDE the tanks it would be cl***ified as a streamliner rather than a Lakester.
Anyone remember Smokey Yunick's twin pod Indy racer?

This tank was again featured in HR in the early 60s.

Stability issues could easily be addressed with modern airfoils, the airfoils could even be adjustable and of a large enough cross section to enclose the front and rear axles. Lateral sprint car torsion bars could also be enclosed in them for a very compact springing arrangement if it's found desirable to spring the ch***is . Axles could be as simple as DOM tube connecting quickchange center sections together, with stub axle flanges on the outboard side of the center sections to still enclose the wheels/tires in the bodies (tanks). Using two center sections (diff in one, spool in the other) would allow running twin engines (with tanks that long it should be an easy package job, driver in one, fluids in the other) depending on need or desire. The front axle could be as simple as a straight (no drop at all) sprint car axle.
If you wanted to take a page out of Mickey Thompson's book and run four engines with four wheel drive, find a short (but long enough to enclose the driver) third tank and mount it center rear behind the rear axle centerline to carry the driver slingshot style.
This all sounds like great fun to me.

  12. okay
    engine... inlines vs v8
high horspower .. quick and hot vs tall gears and lots of em
posi rear vs quick change .. more gears
    2wd .. 4wd

where do we ship this thing for ease of build and testing..
the lakes here are only hard and flat enuf around 5 months outa the year then its seems a bit cold ...
