If the concensus is to have a limited amount of HAMB 'things' out there then why not add the hometown or state (or region) to the alliance tag to show locality. The tag is a display of your HAMB support (ie. our 'Colors') and maybe having the locality on it might add a touch of pride in your locality too. Just an idea....... .....and the 50 dollar price of admission might help maintain the unique flavor the HAMB has to offer. -Bigchief.
I for one don't see the number of "YaaHoo"s posting on here increasing "just to get a car club plaque". For one thing an aluminum plaque the same size as a license plate isn't going to be the cheapest bit of frivolity to buy and would be way down on most peoples most wanted car accessories list. While the time and effort making the patterns for and tooling up for a run of fifty individual state identified plaques might be cost prohibitive, making up one with a relatively small depressed area provided on it's face for a screwed on insert for those Hambers in a particular area or town or club to have made locally to identify themselves sounds entirely plausible. I'm definitely with the cruzr on this one, thinking it would be a neat idea and would be a**** the first to step up. That said, don't think for a minute that I'd stick it on just anything I had laying around. Yes indeed, it would be squirreled away for whichever of my REAL hot rods I get finished first. All in all I'm sure there's more than a few Hambers with the skills to make up a pattern for this (Cyclone Kevin comes to mind), and finding a place to cast them shouldn't take too much effort. Profits from these (like the other HAMB merchandise) added to the HAMB coffers to help defray the cost of running this place sounds like a positive thing to me.
I have to say the alliance tag and the occasional t-shirt is enough for me. I already have a plaque on my car anyways...
exactly, why put more out there. I only have the firewall tag and even that's enough. Less can have more meaning than adding more "stuff:
Hogwash.....so..if I'm a Hamber, and don't have the plaque, then I'm not as "in" as the people who do? More subdivision.

no man , that's not it. If you had the plaque other members would automatically know you are a member and with the growing numbers it just makes it that much better and the measley 50 bones helps Ryan take care of the place which we all care about. my .02
Maybe this is where we start to be big kids. Maybe the sale ( $$$) of a " club plate" can go to help people. Maybe help the family of HAMBANDY who I am sure is up to their neck in medical bills, or to the family of the guy who just died in Florida. I'm not sure how all of it would work...maybe that club plaque could actually be a fundraiser for a chosen cause. And I am not talking about the Cleveland center for aging hot rodders. I mean doing some real good. Just another idea.
The Alliance tag is fine for me. I have Pair A Dice cruiser plates for both trucks and hang around with the Kropdusters. There is no more room on the back for another drag plate. A observation maybe but alot of HAMB members seem to be non club people. Jim H
hamb drag plates, get your hamb drag plates here. cast aluminum, just like the real thing. hang em next to your fuzzy dice. show the world you're a real rodder. be the first to park your sled at cruise night sporting the new hamb drag plate. wow your friends. sure to impress. GOLD CHAINER "What's that you got hanging from your bumper Johnny?" JOHNNY COME LATELY "Why it's hottest new doodad you can put on your ratrod" GOLD CHAINER "That's very cool, you know, my wife's sister is going to hawaii next month, I'll ask her to pick me one up from there, along with a harley davidson t shirt" JOHNNY COME LATELY "Are you sure you have enough space to display it? looks like it might get lost with all your crybaby dolls."
i just pre ordered 20k of them...please send 50 bucks per plq to.... todd reed rr-1 box 1.........................
Our club ordered club plates and the cost was about $20 min.order i think was about 50 plates . To do a order for a group this large money out lay would be pretty high ,unless they were all pre pays and at that point Ryan may have to get a bookkeeper to keep up.
When I bought my Jalopy Journal t-shirt I also got a HAMB decal. My 63 TBird has a little Rat Fink and the little HAMB sticker in the corner of the back window. That's all I need.
I like subtle stuff... And to me, plaques aren't really that subtle. We will be doing more merchandise this year, but nothing anyone would be ashamed of and nothing in huge quan***ies. I'm really focusing on quality...
Well, the words "Von Dutch" come to mind...but, this ain't a democracy, so I suspect Ryan would not let that happen. I'm not really in favor of it, but if we did, then I'd say, half the net profits to Ryan/H.A.M.B., half to a national charity...or whatever percentage preferred by the man...no discussion of that percentage needed. My personal take is that we have some long time guys who won't/can't pony up for the Alliance, which has benefits directly payable to them...so I don't see them doing it for a plaque that would only benefit others.
I think Plaques are a little much, but license plate toppers would be another way to do it. I know a few guys have made them for their alliance tags and it was a great idea. I can't remember who, but someone cast one on here and it was beautiful. There's nothing exclusive about a 30k+membership forum.. Hamb has been in numerous magazines, mentioned in numerous interviews, and is pretty well known.. so I don't think having plaques, stickers, or anything else is gonna water it down. T-shirts are available and I don't see them everyday.
My vote is NO. It just cheapens the whole thing. Why can't we just be a secret society? Now that's bad ***!
ok lets shelve this............it was a "brain fart" i had last night. the answer is .........Hogwash !! next case..............LOL hey ya ever had a bad idea?? hmmmmmmm
