Today I finished the two fuel injector housings I have been building to put on the flathead ford and see if I can get them to work or it was a lot of work and some dollars for the trash bin. I will install them over the weekend and maybe be able to fire it up next week. Below are some pictures of the construction of them. They arent the greatest pictures but they give a general idea of building them. The last pictures show them mocked up on a spare intake I have. There are four 24 lb injectors running at 46 psi fuel pressure. These will replace the two 94's I am running on it now. I started out with the general layout for locating the injector bungs.
Thanks Rex; I am using ElectroMotive's TEC3r unit. I installed them today but still need to wire them up and pick up a TPS connector.
Vergil is obviously a real, live hotrodder. I'd absolutely LOVE to see a dyno run with this setup versus a pair of 97s. I'm sure when it's all dialed-in, it'll be smooth as silk.. Very impressive.
Two questions: How did you fab the bodies? It looks like you fabbed them from sections of steel plate and tubing. Second, are those dimensions for the injector "pockets" for GM injectors? Or rather, older (mid-late 90s) GM injectors? Doc.
Doc you are correct on the construction of them but I didn't have any tubing in the size I needed so I used round stock. The injectors in the pictures are from a 1991 Pontiac 3.1 for mockup and construction. I did use the ****erfly's from doner carbs. Vergil
I received my set of injectors today (related post http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=159373 ) from GMC BUBBA. Installed them this evening (set regulator to 35 psi ) turned the switch on, checked no leaks, fired up on the first try. I still need to do the tuning on them through the computer. I will try tuning after I understand what all the new lingo means and then how to enter it. So far I am very pleased with the engine running with no distributor and home brewed injection (well home brewed injector housings lol) It is running lean right now plus the accleration needs enriched. After I get the bugs out I will post vid. Still a lot to learn to work on the bugs though.
There is a HAMBer in NJ that did something similar. For the life of me I cannot remember his name. Met him at Lead East
