Whilst drawing them cars, I need the occasional break. I sneak into the garage from time to time. Blew the whole truck apart down to the last nut and bolt. Re-did the suspension. Split the wishbones and this weekend (maybe, it's Christmas an' all) I'll make plates that'll attach the ladder bar crossmember to the frame. Cleaned up and rebuilt most of the ch***is bits and pieces. Will sandblast and paint the rear end and frame, going to powdercoat the front axle and bones and ladder bars. More progress soon. Now to find someone to weld up all my artsy-fartsy tack welds. HAHAHAAA Yeah, the pinion angle is nowhere close yet as the spring is the only thing holding the rear in place and it is twisted as I only have a few leaves in place right now. It'll be all better when I tack in the ladder bar mount and the axle/clevis brackets.
Do those wheels fit under the front fenders? I had some little window Halibrands on my '40 tudor as "rollarounds" once, but had to turn them backwards to get more fender clearance. Maybe you need a narrower axle, before everything is welded solid.
Even better, they're Mud and Snow radials....***y http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=193429 They'll fit, I've mocked up the fenders and it's going to take some work, but they'll be under there when it's all said and done. BTW, they are 16x8 and are actually quite deep if I turn them around.
Get the camber on the front axle fixed before you powder coat it. I had that problem with my Magnum 5-inch- they said it was common on cast axle to look like a Volkswagen with the engine pulled and they will mostly all need straightening to correct that. The forged axles like Ch***is Engineering don't have that problem.
....lookin good,,...ain't it somethin how just a rollin ch***is can have such a neat look to it by itself? ...what body is goin on that? ...I like those rims too, what brand are they?...Halibrands?
the wheels are gonna make it. you just do not seem any of them.. currently my favorite wheel made. thought about running them on my 57 chevy, just not sure it would work (even in a street racer look)
37 PUs have fenders? WTF? I thought they all were fenderless and channelled until you cant fit in em?
It's the stock '37 piece with reversed eyes. What're you talking about?! That is the REAL hot rod. You better believe it! I don't know what axle it is, it came with the truck, I ***umed it was either a Magnum or Ch***is Engineering, the steering arms are C.E.. Good to know about the axle, I know it's not optimum, but I like the positive camber, looks like a Sorchick piece! ha "Real Rodder's Wheels" which is the progression of Eric Vaughn's "Real Wheels" company. Awesome wheels. Check http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=193429 It's for a '37 pickup. Thanks for the positive words fellers!
Your my Hero Dreemee Jeemee!! I can WAIT to go fer a spin!!!! Killer wheel combo and perfect stance..... why aren't ya finished yet??
...great stuff, nice job .. please let the progress info come this way ! But tell us...how did this project end up as the pee cup ? / primerkid
No secret, Michelin 285-70-16 and Nankang 135-75-15 (those old Michelins are hard to get now) . The fenders in back are obviously going to be a tough fit, but I'm going to trim the excess lip material (Aussie makeover?) and re-roll it under and a couple of other tricks, no one will no the difference but me. A last resort will be a skinnier tire with the same OD. I could run those Firestone Dirt trackers and be set without any alterations but I'd like to run these radials for a while.
