I have to work Christmas. I work for the fire department and my schedule is every third day, so a third of all firemen around the country will be at their station on Christmas morning.

I'll be working patrol, night shift, as a cop in the Houston area. Will probably be slow, except for the drunks out. Just glad to be working. I always get a perspective adjustment real quick when driving by 40-50 homeless people, sleeping on the sidewalk just outside of downtown during the night.

  16. years ago ,when i worked for the phone company i would volunteer to work on Christmas. i was single with no kids..so it gave the chance for people with families to have the day off

besides , it was triple time and all i did was sit on my *** for the day

Yep, I'll be on nights (5p-5a). Been very few holidays over my shiftwork career that I've been off. Good news is that if all goes as planned, I'll be retired for the '08 Christmas holiday...

    Merry Christmas to all.

I hope I can, I am always working even on weekends and sometimes I work through the night, nothing like working 32 hours straight but I guess that is the life of a Hot Rod builder.

Yup, my job is 3 days on 3 days off no matter where they fall 24/7. I was lucky enough to be on shift for Christmas morning and New Year's Eve night. At least both are double time and a half, that makes it a little easier.

  26. I'm working Christmas night and NewYears Day 3p-11p. I could have taken the day off, but I let the "young guys" with younger kids have it off. Besides, the overtime money will buy more parts!

don't let a Trainmaster catch you or you'll be out of service for the holidays. when I was young, I slept on 3rd shift in the car shop and went to college during the day. I'll have 40 yrs on the RR this coming May
