Will aircraft paint stripper remove primer? My car has a layer of primer, followed by a layer of paint, followed by another layer of primer; so I need to be able to strip it all off.

I use a 8in DA with 80 grit paper and you do not have the mess and no chemical smell.

make sure your clean strip air craft stripper says "does not meet federal spec...." in a red label at the top,

the clean strip air craft stripper without that label is not as strong.i think it says low odor or something.

Another vote for aircraft stripper. Glop it on, and it'll eat through multiple layers (have used it to eat through three layers at once.) Use nitrile gloves (although it'll eventually eat through those if you get too much on them), eye protection and good ventilation.

Have also used the variable speed sander/buffer with 80 grit. Works well with some paints (like original manufacturer's paint) but coats of the cheap stuff 'melt' and gum up your sanding discs. I use aircraft/jet stripper and then hit the stubborn stuff with the buffer/sander (keep it under 1,500 RPMs and keep it moving around, or you risk overheating and warping the sheet metal.) Also, don't get that stripper in recesses where you can't get/drain it out of. That stuff will stay active for a long time; you don't want it seeping out once you've got that new paint on.

Outside of media blasting, I ***ure you "Aircraft Remover" by Kleen-Strip is the best paint remover on the market.
If you need another gallon, go to O`Reilly`s (you should have one in your area - I know there are a few in Florida) and ask the paint dept guy to cut you a deal. You should be able to get a gallon for about $20.

Nads, Try the stuff from Home Depot in a orange & white gallon can. Around $16. a gal.

    It works awesome.

My wife stripped my old 53 Suburban, by herself, in less than a week. And that was working at her own pace, couple hours a day.

She also did it wearing shorts and a t-shirt:eek:

    It's a jelly type stuff.

    Just look.... BTW, She's awesome. I got a keeper:D

In a former life I used to strip aircraft. Big ol air grease gun lookin sprayer out of a 55 gal drum sure would lay it on nice. Then we
used a pressure washer to remove it. That worked great too,but
you had to wear a monkey suit and face shield.
