Well, I for one say NAY... seriously, I don't like the look of it...but I really have no objection if you want to build it out of fiberglass...Just don't cut up a good truck to make that uglymobile.

I'm thinkin it would be cooler as a slammed fat fendered dually, but that's just me.

If you do the roadster, it needs an exhaust stack with a rain cap clinker. NEEDS it.

Some live outside the box.....I prefer life in cardboard. Build it if you must, but only if my laughter doesn't offend you.

Thank you for the kind words Kustombuilder. That is a sketch I did of my '49 to see what it would look like fenderless.

I'm not going to comment on weather or not this is a good idea. I keep my mouth shut when it comes to what looks right, and what doesn't. That sketch was done just to put on paper what I pictured in my twisted head.

"How much sugar will it take to make this pile of horse sh#t taste like apple pie?"

I love this quote.....there are other variations but this one rolls off the tongue nicely....

    I think it's ugly....
I think it doesn't belong here....
Don't waste your time, life's too SHORT....

It's your truck do what you want.....
    More power to ya.....
    You'll learn a lot....
The REAL boat is VERY cool....
If you got it cheap, cool...
    Now go build it!

A little radical for my taste, but that Stude boat is real tasty! It's different and cool too. Post a link to your boat board, I'm curious. Thanks for starting an entertaining thread.

Theres not many people who could make that good. To pull that off your going to need crazy metal fab skills and vision that would rival Plowboys. I don't know about the metal working skills, but you don't have the vision. Don't fuck that truck up. Sell it to someone who will do it right and buy a t-bucket or a gallon of paint and prep materials for that boat.

    Never mind

First post here, so at the risk of getting hammered as well I say go for it. Here are a couple of pictures of my big Ford. Like you, I started with a big work truck. I spent a lot of time cutting and pasting different chops and sections until I liked it, and then when I actually started cutting I changed again. I did however start with a concept out of a mag I fell in love with from like 5 years ago. Here are a couple of pics to give some you some ideas.
    - 2x4 frame with 34 axle up front.
    - 48 Ford cab/sectioned 4"/chopped 4"/2" or so off the roof
    - 50ish Chevy hood narrowed 6"/sectioned 4"
    - Ford 300 I6 for go power

I guess the articles in Rod N Custom awhile back about using later model cabs didn't go well with most of you. I personally thought the sketches of the 50's chevy cab shortened, narrowed and lightly sectioned made a nice looking rod. But then opinions are like assholes, and there are plenty of both here it seems. Look in the old pics of stuff running on the flats, a lot of not so traditional rods. How about the early Ramchargers 3 window 49 or 50's Plymouth...nothing traditonal about it but it's known as a classis example of racing history. Do your won thing and don't be so fast to criticize someone who dares to be different. IMO .

I think that one is BAD A$$
,, building a 1 ton chassie rod is very rad imo !!

hmm, why are some so "Talibanish" (fundamentalists )when it comes to stray from the ordinary ?

maybe skip chopping a good truck bod up ,, still there are a lot of cool junk tin that can be used and plenty of chassie parts for no money at all

    just my ,,,

You guys are hilarious. Totally amazing that you folks are still lookin at this after all this time.

I'm still doing this project regardless of the negativity.

If memory serves me correctly, (and watching my dad do it in the 50's) hot rods are built out of what you have.. make do with what you have... not this "gotta have this steering wheel, this frame, this body, this suspension, bla bla bla... total bullshit."

Let it die ok? I did by not chiming in over and over out of respect.

Have a good day now. I'll be back sooner or later.

A thanks to those that have left positive comments. and the negative ones too.

    Kelly
