Usually, I work Christmas so guys that have kids can take off. Funny, no ones has asked me to work this year.

I'm working a 24 hour shift (firefighter) on Dec. 24th-then work overtime on Christmas evening ($$$$). The kids are grown and last one out of college-so don't mind working to let the family guys off. Will also be working overtime on New Year's eve, too. Gotta pay the bills!

I worked on Thanksgiving to get the 24th off, but I'll be there for 24hrs on Christmas day and New Years eve. Whatever, it all pays the same and we just celebrate on a different day. It's only a minor bummer.

Yup, working. Just got myself in a bind, going to El Mirage and various bike events, let the project slip off track and have to pay for my bad time management. Oh well, I played while the rest worked. Besides, I get more work done with the phones and shop shut down.

Your stuck on the islands again, and I am in Russia again.
Only 3 feet of snow this year, -27 today (actually warmer than normal).
Enjoy the overtime.... As you know, very little stops the drilling .

Working. Some of us zoo management types that don't normally work weekends volunteer to work holidays so the curators that do normally work weekends can have the time off. I got Christmas again this year.

Working 7am-7pm as Power Staion Operator. been a quiet day and no kids yet soo it's OK. Got new year's eve too and our roster for Easter came out last week and I scored it too. came in a 5.30am so 1 of the other Guys could be there when his kids woke.

  16. You're not working at THUMBS, are you.

  17. Me too brother, me too, at least my buddy and I worked out a deal so he got to spend more time with his family Christmas eve and I'll go home a bit early today. But hey we have jobs and that is a blessing these days. Though I'm sick of being under staffed and pulling 10-12 shift stretches (we work 12's). My buddy here is pulling 20 12 hour days straight with a few 24 hour shifts in there. Merry Christmas to all my fellow shift working stiffs :)

I missed this thread. Been Shiftworking for 10 years now. I have worked every Thanksgiving/Christmas run except for one. New schedule just came out for next year and our shift finally rolled out of the holidays.
