Just wanted to let you all know about a new small pages mag here in Oz. "Chopped" is the product of Ryan Ford, his brother Kyle and mate Paul. Ryan is a friend of mine but that aside the first edition of CHOPPED is a stand out. Ryan has access to some really cool historical pics and stories about early Australian rodding which includes some very early links to some of the major players in American hot rodding.

Ryan is also a very talented sign painter, pinstriper and custom painter and issue 1 includes a tech on lace panel painting. I'm proud of this mag and I had nothing to do with it. I hope Ryan and the boys are equally proud.

The best contact for you guys is probably via Wayne at KustomInk (Peddro).

You need to have a look at this one

  2. Website? If not they should do one like Rolls & Pleats. A full preview. If it's good people will still buy it. Looking forward to checking it out!

Are these guys ant relation to Eddie Ford? I remember meeting him and his wife at the Hershey swap meet way back a long time ago. They had a small space and a few boxes of their magazine, "Custom Rodder". I bought several back issues and really enjoyed the stories and the photos of Aussie tin.

In fact, Eddie was kind of the reason my wife and I went to Australia back in 1985. I wanted to see first hand all of those odd Aussie cars, like the slopers and the Utes. We went to the Nationals that were held in Canberra that year. Rod and Carol Hadfield, who we stayed with in Castlemaine, took us and we had a blast bombing around in Rod's ZZ-Top coupe. What a trip, and all because of Eddie Ford and his magazine.

Sorry for the ramble, I was just wondering, 'cause if they are kin, they come from mighty good stock!

Yep...Eddie Ford is like a Ed Iskendarian of Aussie rodding....and I'm pretty sure that Ryan is his son, but one of the most respected young dudes in the Aussie scene, regardless of his family connections!!!:D

and BTW......Rod Hadfield is like Pete'n'Jake all wrapped up in one....he recently retired from his Hot Rod Engineering business TO CONCENTRATE ON BUILING HOT RODS

Mark, thanks for the info on the Ford boys. Also, I do keep up with the goings-on of Rod and Carol. And that, in itself, is quite a feat! They do more with their time than any people I know. We just got an email from Carol and she informs us that they will be coming back to the States for another visit and Rod is building a car for them to scoot around in.

Man-oh-man, I wish I had his energy. Wouldn't hurt to have his skill also!

I just got an email from these guys... hadn't heard of the magazine before, but looks like it has potential from what little there is on their website. Maybe we could get a table of contents list, or a a couple of shots of the pages before ordering? Thanks guys, and good luck with it!

Chopped... They harvested email from our community. I'm not a big fan of theirs...
