HEY GUYS, SHOW ME YOUR TRACTOR GRILLES AND TELL ME WHY THEY WERE USED AFTER ALL.

  2. I'll post a pic of my Oliver tractor grill tonight. I used it because of the looks and that is also my last name.

I've got lots of tractor grills. They're all on TRACTORS.....where they belong.

    Obviously, I'm not a fan.:D

This board will probaly not yeild you the greatest results with questions like this one since it is not traditional to use tractor parts on a hot rod. Try killbillet or ratrodsrule, also great sites.
There is a lot of great info and great people on this board but those other sites will have more results for you on those types of mods.
With that said I will post the one shot I have of said grill style that I shot at the Pumpkin run in Owensville Ohio this year. Good luck on your quest!

Somewhere, there is a Farmall longing for it's missing grill shell.........

Using tractor parts on cars and vice versa is VERY traditional. That's a VERY generalized and ***holish statement being made. I have used PLENTY of TRACTOR PARTS on my 55 Pontiac, obviously no sheet metal of course. HOWEVER, if I wanted to drive something that looked like a FARMALL, I'd drive a FARMALL..............and not some squished hotrod with an iden***y crisis.

Being a Red Iron girl, seeing a shell like that on ANY hotrod really chaps my ***.

I have seen tractor headlights on a 29 roadster that had been siting in barn since the late 40's.
I think back in the day they had enough good sense to understand that a tractor grill looks positively stupid on anything but a tractor.

It's all about learning to shut you trap and speak only when spoken to.

    :D

M*** opinions are what create fads. Fads, willing to admit it or not, deem the outcome of EVERYTHING in life.

Think of it like ***, enough people dig it and it will sell. :D

I think if you look hard enough, you'll find one that will work and not be an eyesore. It's not going to be easy, but it's at least worth a try. Good luck.

Here is a couple of kool tricks you might want to use. Buy a hibachi grill, the round one. Take it apart and lag bolt each half to the floorboard. One for the driver and one for the p***enger. Next, arc weld tractor seats to them and you have an "instant" interior. Rag joints and steering universal joint from old M***ey Fergusons also work well. ( sorry, I couldn't resist)

    Yargh!

Depending on the grille, I think it works.

Not everyone has the dough to buy a Deuce grille shell-be it real( you can build a decent engine at that price) or fibreglas(what piss of the kewl rockasilly purists?), and sometimes an a grille is not it.

Tractor grilles, are streamlined and have that flow.

    I like 'em.

Putting a tractor grill on an old car is just plain ****ed. What the hell is wrong with people? To stand around a car with a 10 inch chop and look at the tractor grill is something I don't understand. If you people like this **** you are ****oloids. I am so pissed off I may take up ballet......If you can't tell ,rat rods piss me off.

    Tractor Grille = Rat Rod

Rat Rod = Find another forum...... keep this **** off the HAMB

Nobody building traditional hot rods is stupid enough to put a tractor grille on.....don't be lazy..... find the right grille.

  26. Not to roll a grenade or anything, but were tractor grilles used on cars back in the era HAMBers now celebrate by building as if their cars were hot-rodded during that era?

When was it first done? Just curious.

  27. Here's how mine is at the current time. Should be finishing up on it (grill) later next week. Basically a full roller at this time.

DAMN.... I guess I would royally be ****ed ifn I showed up with a tractor grilled "Rudy" truck

  29. I think if you take a tractor grille and use parts of it to make a track nose, that's cool.

But putting one on "as is" is more of a RAT ROD thing...

And RAT RODS and TRADITIONAL HOT RODS coexist here on the HAMB... like it or not.

My un-politically correct response is... "Leave the tractor grilles on the tractors"... as the look stupid as **** on a hot rod.

    Sam.
