Not my favorite color for that car but then again, my name is not on the pink slip. It's his car and thats what he likes. chuck
Different ,how? Pink with life-sized skulls for a grill? The fact that you "dig it",tells volumes about your taste! Also...there's another thread that you would just love...."Ugly Ass Customs".
Sorry! Wasn't meant to sound so aggressive. More "tongue-n-cheek". The car looks like it has nice lines and quality work, but the color of the top is horrible! Never did like Mercs with Lowrider style paint jobs. Don't think i've ever see a two-toned one I really cared for either, with the exception of the white and grey 51 that belongs to a HAMBer on here.
Mmm, different doesn't = good, right or aesthetically pleasing. And best paint I'm assuming is about the quality of the job, not the "personal taste" side of things. No?
I kind of like it. Not sure why exactly. Would love to see it in person. Why does Chris Addington ring a bell?
Nah I dont like it either. I think mercs look super tough but with colors like that it kinda looks ..... Gay.
There's no accounting for taste, so the owner need not fire his accountant. Have you ever been surprised by being confronted by a truly ugly baby, and you have to kind of emotionally jake brake yourself so as not to offend the little monkey's loving parents? The nice thing about cars is that unconditional love is not required of the owner. One can do something about one's car.
Hey man! I was actually defending your choice to be different,LOL! Your car was the first one that came to mind when he said "different". Sorry...I thought it was pink. Oh well...been wrong before! How's the Merc doin? Anything new?
I like yellow but not on classic cars for some reason. I have had three newer cars and one crotch rocket in yellow.
I am a minimalist. In my eye the beauty of the Merc is in the smoothly rounded body. That picture screams "YALLER!!!!" (southern for bright yellow). I would select a color that shows of that body instead of hiding it. Colors that come to mind are the metalics like deep purple, deep blue, deep green, black, or anything candy.
The merc is gone Bob, i traded it for a 53 ford panel truck. Its an authentic "traditional" 80`s custom. Been sitting for awhile though and needs gone thru bad!
Chris Addington built a VW Ghia in the 80's called Rodbuster(I think). It did it's rounds on the show circuit, lots of billet, suicide doors, and a really tacky paint job even by 80's standards. I am guessing it is the same guy. You can see a pic at this link, but fair warning, VW content from a VW site. http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/321199.jpg
Yeah, it occurred to me last night. Although I was thinking he did the "crystal blue persuasion" ghia, no?
I think he did two, red one was Rodbuster, http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/51082.jpg Billet suspension, dual superchargers, etc and another ugly paint job.
Ahhhhhh, Shannon Rae..... P.B. Yeah, I remember that ghia too. Beginning of the end for VW show cars, like 80's-90-s billetmobile street rods, these cars were smoothed and shaved to the point of losing any identity.
Traded your Merc for a 53 Panel....HMMM! Hope it was a step up. Cause Mercs aren't easy to come by...regardless of the direction it was going. I love Mercs, not just nice ones, but all Mercs! Just cause it might not be the color or style I prefer, doesn't mean I hate it. Hope you're happy with the panel.
