Need torque specs for 59 caddy 390

    Hey guys, i was contemplating buying the deville manual, but if i can get some torque specs from you guys, that would be great. Is the manual worth buying? Well heres what i need.

    Head bolt torque and sequence

    Rod bolts

    Main bolts

    damper bolt

    Cam gear bolts

    I think thats all the major ones. school me if i need more. Thanks in advance.

    head 70-80
    rod 40-45
    main 90-100
    damper 60-70
    flywheel 75-80
    intake 25-30
    exhaust 25-30
    timing sprocket 15-18
    timing cover 10-12
    oil pan screws 10-12 nuts 15-18

    this is all from Chilton so take it with a grain of salt

    thanks squirrel. those seem about average, even from chilton.

    Squirrel's torques agree with the ones in my '57 shop manual.

    My 59 Cadiilac Shop Manual is the same except for the Head bolts.. it gives 65 - 70

    is there a sequence on the head bolts. what about rocker shaft torque

    On your head bolts, tighten them starting from the center row and work outward and toward each end. Rocker shaft screws are 65- 70. Hope this helps.

    does anyone know how to pull the cam out. i cant seem to get the bottom gear off the crank. do i have to pull the cam gear off.

    Also i was looking at finned valley covers, and valve covrs, and had a qustion about crankase ventilation. i have a breather in the valve cover that went to the intake and and a breather in the valley cover that went to the manifold as well. do i need to keep those or should i get the road draft tube thingy.
