Glad to hear it's finally on the tube. Then even more people will know the story, and get the salt bug.

No doubt! When it came out on DVD I was watching it weekly for quite a while - even the original bonus footage! Inspirational is an understatement.

  16. Get the DVD........

The movie is good but the documentary kicks ass. You can see a lot of paralells
between the two. Hopkins must have worn out his copy of the documentary.

When Roger Donaldson was in Dallas for a film festival we got to talk to him, he's a "Petrol head" at heart.

After watching the movie and documentary, I found excerpts of one of the books about him on-line. Did you guys know he made his own OHV conversion for that engine? Built it all himself, INCLUDING THE CAMSHAFTS. WTF? How in the hell did he figure all of that out? That's an engineering feat in itself.....

    Burt's my hero.

Great movie, I bought the DVD. Anthony Hopkins was perfectly cast in this role. Burt is a legend, that's for sure, gives me real inspiration when I step out into the shop.

I can relate to the end of his record run when the bike falls over on its side and he just lays there laughing. Sometimes that's all you can do!

Awesome movie! It snuck up on me when I watched it - didn't realize what I was seeing until later on in the movie.

Man your such a homo!! :D

I didn't get misty eyed till he broke the 200 mph barrier.

Sad part is,, I knew I was gonna end up with tears at some point.

  28. I dug the car lot in Van Nuys where he bought his car from what looked like Paul Rodriguez. Great cars in the background throughout the movie. Good info on the Red streamliner's driver. I thought he looked familiar

  29. I love that movie.

I got to see an advanced screening of it at one of the brand new surround sound theaters - and they really had the volume cranked up. It was awesome with the engine sounds in that movie....

I thought the part where the bike gang comes up to his car and gives him money to go to Bonneville with, and then escorts him out of town was great too!:D Almost made me cry.
