  6. Agreed. The first I'd heard of it was Zombie's tractor-rod artwork.
They'd look good on a sectioned down single seat modified but it's gonna need a hood and sides and maybe a belly pan...But yea, they look like **** just hung out on the front.

I see the post I started in 05 about this is still around, and here's a thread to add to the subject.
Strube has the idea....stock wasn't our intention when I wrote that.

And while those plans were long-waylaid, it is always interesting to see so many opinions.

Hey guys thanks for all the replies both positive as negative After buying a grille this afternoon I do not know what to do. But I think I will try it on for a while just see how people react. I could swap it anytime for a '32 one that is laying around. I think building a rod is a personal thing and not just do what the majority think is right. But thanks again for the input

theres something to be said for proportion. the depth of tractor grills kills it. it just extends the wheel base further and they look goofy. proportion and lines are lost. with some serious surgery i'm sure a tractor grill could look good but people just schlop em on.

I agree with most of what was said on this thread:D:D

  19. I have to say, I'm guilty of using a tractor grill for my crazy frankenstein car, the 27 Boattail, but I would never, never use a tractor grill on a Model A.

  24. Thought i would post a few pictures of mine up here. Don't really care what other people think of it. Its from a Farmall H. Had to cut it some to slide down between the frame. I like how it looks, and feel it was done tastefully (little bias). Kinda has a track feel to it. I have seen many which don't follow the lines of the car at all, positioned up too high and above the cowl. The body lines seem to line up really good on my setup. Hoping to get things painted when i can stop driving it enough to get it taken apart. I tried out making a hood for it to bring it together, I don't think it turned out as well as i wanted. But i drive the **** out it and have a lot fun. These were taken waiting for the rest of the convoy down to autorama in 17 degree weather in flint, about 70 miles north of Detroit.

i bought a farmall grill too, mainly cuz its insane to try and get a original or even a fibergl*** reproduction grills are a bit much. besides, isn't hot rodding about scrounging up whatever you can to make a distinctive rod?

Here is one I found...still attached to the donor. Case 600. It solves the problem of what to do about headlights.

I don't really care about tractors so I was kinda thinking about one for my 32 coupe. Thinking I could cut one up to look cool enough.
Why would I do this you ask?
Are you just trying to be different?
You must be a (God don't say it) Rat Rodder!
    Maybe your just stupid?

Well I do like to be a little different, I'm not sure if I'm a rat rodder, and I don't know if I'm smart enough to know if I'm stupid. So why I'm thinking of cutting up a very usable tractor grille, because I can't seem to find a 32 ford grille for less than $1500.
My theory for this is all you modal guys want 32s and all ya got was a grille, so please be proud of your model A and use a A grille and let me have your 32 grille.
This will save us all especially Brandy.

Now please oh please show me lots of your pictures of those cut up grilles
