I almost forgot about my own .I had a 67 Malibu in high school (in the late 80's)that i built under a tree in the backyard .It ran a rebuilt 327 that i pulled from a wrecked Camaro ,with ported 1.94 heads (that cost me 3 burnt drills and a month of weekends to port ),an offy 3 duece intake that i got for 50 bucks with the carbs ,and a cheap hydraulic General Knetics cam ,a glide /2800 converter ,and a 10 bolt posi with 3.90 gears.I had less than 3 grand in the car and it ran a best of 13.23 at 104 if i remember correctly. Its was my only car and i drove it everywhere .It lasted for a whole year of me spinning the small journal motor beyond 7000 till it lost a piston .

This is the fastest street driven car I've owned. It's a 1934 International "pickup" with a 454/turbo 400/4.56 8.5" GM rearend. The truck weighed 2500 lbs. and the quickest it went was 7.25 in the 1/8th. That was with a pretty basic engine and one 4 bbl carb. I just turned the engine 5500 rpms and it ran about the same with an Edelbrock 750 or Holley 750 doublepumper. I had a lot stouter engine in it for a while (LS6 shortblock with Brodix heads, roller cam, and tunnelram), but never made it to the track with that combination. I drove it around town every day, weather permitting, and made some 150 mile round trips with it. It was a fun ride. Sold it to build one of my Anglias and haven't ever finished the Anglia yet. I saved the "good" engine for the Anglia

Spinning the tires out of the hole, I ran a 12.90 @ 103mph in my unfinished coupe at the Day of the Drags. It's not a daily driver but it's not a drag car either, and I drive it every chance I get.

.060 over '54 331 Chrysler, 4 Stromberg 97's, Isky solid cam, Muncie 4 spd, 3.50 rear gear in a 9", Hurst cheater slicks. It's actually very streetable, but it is a little too loud for everyday driving.

I know it's got 12.50s or better in it, but I've still got some bugs to work out. It really doesn't matter what ET it runs though, because I know it's fast by the pucker marks left on the p***enger side of the seat. :)

My thoughts exactly, in high school I had basically the same truck, but with a built 454, built TH400, posi, etc and I'll bet it was lucky to get into the high 13's..... it's tough to make them fast....

    Now I'm calling ********.

615 hp in a steel coupe is not going to go 8.25 @ 198.

750hp would go 8.25 in a dragster. Takes more like 1000hp to go 198mph. In a dragster.

    Steel coupe? No way.

615 hp was the 10.95 truck, not the 8.25 coupe.

tmacracin, how's about some details on the motor? I have a solid roller 406 going in my '55, and I'm curious as to what cam, heads etc. you used to make 615 hp. Thanks.

well It takes more than H.P. to run fast or quick.
E.T. is more a function of how the car leaves and 60 or even 330 ft's. Mph is more about H.P.A high H.P. car may run 121 mph but have a relativey slower E.T.and vice-versa.
A car with excellent suspension and good hook may run high 10s but a relativey slower MPH.
High 10s and 121 MPH says it has it on both ends of the track.
A 3800 convertor with a 2.48 low gear t-400 and high H.P. will hit those tires pretty brutal.
You probably have the best ET Street tires and ******* bars that I have ever heard of. To take that HP and apply it well enough to run those times is unreal. A Super Stock car with a four link ,14 x 32 slicks and 1000 less lb's would only be marginally better than that. Then figure the weight bias on a pickup and that thing is awesome.

Believe it or not. This would power through 1/4 mile at a 13.08 at alittle over 100mph I had a 307 chev bored 60 with flat tops, camel back heads with a solid Lunati cam 1.6 rockers at .560 lift. going through a worn out saganaw 4 speed that wouldnt go into fourth gear with out grinding,
[IMG] into a 8.75 mopar with 4.88 gears with a spool. Oh and homemade traction bars. And yes it did p*** tech It weighs 3300 pounds

My F-1 has gone a best of 14.01 at 95 mph. Virtually bone stock 115,000 mile Vortec 350 with a 600 Holley, cheap aluminum intake, and shorty headers. All of that backed by a 700 R4 and a 9 inch with 3.89 gears. Only thing that was done to the suspension was new shocks for the rear, original shocks don't work to well on the track. It now has ******* bars, but I haven't been back to the track. Runs pretty good for what it is I think.
