Had not seen it since the early 70's. Now in a new release there is a second disc made this year that tells the whole story of making the film.A lot of great facts were revealed. The movie really is a time capsule for anyone that was young then. Go rent it !!!
...that sounds cool, I've got the first VHS tape they put out of that movie, you see something new everytime you watch it. . ..not to hi-jack your thread, but I just watched an old movie (circa 1949) entitled "Big Wheel" with a very young Mickey Rooney as the lead star. It's about circle track racing with him finally going to Indy to race the 500 race. Lots of good racing action and cool racecars and everyday cars in this one I recommend it; got mine in a $2.00 DVD bin at Menards of all places.
Back in the 70's when I was street racing, I saw that 55' driving down Van Nuys Blvd. Alway loved that car after that. Heard it ran 10.90's, which was fast for a street car in those days.
I got on the Blockbuster online rental deal last year, and that was the FIRST film I ordered. After several months of waiting for it, (and a few other films) I unsubscribed. to their credit, they DID provide me a copy of "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry"...which was pretty cool all over again!
You know I actually bought it after all of the hype surrounding it and I was disappointed. I thought it sucked. Had a few good car scenes in it but for the most part.......disappointed. Now AG is the one I liked.
is that the one with the crazy guy is building a corvette to race up in the hills against other canyon racers. I think it was a TV movie.. I have been looking for that one for years
TLB grows on you, it was a really bad movie as far as plot/script/acting, but if you can get past that, and crank up the volume to 11 when the 55 is cruising down the highway, it's pretty good.
I got Hot Rod, Two Lane Blacktop and American Graffiti in one package for Christmas! I've never seen TLB... J.
back in high school (about 2 years ago) my dad gave me a copy of 2 lane blacktop and me and a friend tried to watch it with our girlfriends we both loved it but seeing the girls expressions made me think they would never talk to us again. theres some things girls just dont get.
Where did you rent TLB at? I have never seen it either, but have ask for it sevral times ............no luck!
I had a hard time as well despite my love for the 55. I even used to fast forward to get to the car in action. It took awhile before I appreciated the whole process from the shooting to the final product. It is genious!
look on ebay - i got some knockoffs from there for $5 each. hot rod was one of them. if you thought tlb was bad, hot rod is worse! it's still gotta be watched of course, but the willy's build is done overnight it seems.
