I love playing with my zingers. I have 2 Big "O" tracks that I put together and run 10 or so cars at the same time. What a blast! It's amazing how fast they go.
DENISE YER AWESOME!!!!!! Hell yes! Here is a shot of a few of mine and yes, I have a track set up in my garage.
I wish i could find the pics of my display cabinet, it's a 4'x6' floor retail case similar to Bad Bobs three glass shelves, mirrored rear sliding doors ,a light in the front. keeps everything dust free.
Wow, you guys have some cool set ups. Well see what I decide. I've got a bar in my basement, maybe I'll cut the front out and put in display glass. I used to use cork board and overlap the cars in the packages. Worked pretty well, I'm just hoping to do something cooler.
Went this route, sort of. My mom owns a small retail store and a few years ago was dumping old displays. Got a 4' high rotating display that used to hold earrings or something. Locking lexan doors, works awesome for stuff that's outta the package. Not to mention about a 2' high one-door cabinet below the rotating part to hold whatever you feel like. Always check going out of business sales, there's lotsa stuff like this out there
here is my matchbox case And I also have an identical one for my hotwheels. Made from wood with a lexan cover. hand made by the neighbor.
I like the table/bar top idea. Making a clear top out of glass with separate cells made out of plexi or lexan for each car underneath would be pretty cool.
mine are all in the closets waitin on my stupid wife to pay off our stupid restaurant so the stupid bank will let me have my money back! then im buildin a 60x 90 shop...then i can be the stupid husband with the stupid payments to the stupid bank! but, ill have my toys!!!
I made my own display cabinets and racks for my various models. There are just under 2000 hot wheels on display with about 700 more in storage. The room is due for a make over with new paint and to get more models on display.
All the kids in my old neighborhood in Roseville used to combine all our tracks, put 'em together and send one kid up on the roof. Then we put that big purple clamp that came with the dragstrip on the gutter, and throw the kid on the roof the two cars we wanted to race... that lasted about 10 minutes, until we figured out that if you put a car in the way on the track, they would have really great high speed crashes. I don't know how many redlines met their maker that way. Micheal Arts and crafts has t shaped tracks that you can slide packaged hot wheels into and hang them. Also, certain deep typesetters boxes will hold loose ones, so check your antiques stores. Now back to your regularly scheduled program
That Michaels display is bad! And the mascar ones, but neither holds a candle to Aflster. Holy crap! I also found these one ebay. Very cool. http://cgi.ebay.com/Hot-Wheels-Diec...oryZ1172QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Earlier today I decided to make a display using wood trim and an old storm window for the cover. The back will be partly corkboard for packaged cars, the rest setup for loose cars. Now I'm rethinking it, and may do the Michaels display, since I could have it up tomorrow, and after reviewing my collection, it is at least 75 packaged cars. The only problem is I have some off-brand stuff with larger packaging I'd like to display as well. We'll see I guess.
I got mine at PICO Retail displays and supplies, here in Anaheim. They have all kinds of cases, cheap and expensive ones. I can get some catalogs or their website for you.
WOW LargeB. That's the first time i've seen someone else with a collection like mine! I've got a collection of the same stuff. That's cool!!!
