Well here is my 40 ford cab, in color. 1 year ago this week, Paul Beck was sweating his *** off extracting this cab off its farm truck frame, in an overgrown field of South Dakota. I have pics of that adventure but they are on film and I dont have a scanner on my new computer. Anyway, this is a milestone for this project. I should thank, Russ Pline, Paul Beck and Ted Burke for their help to this point and also Kustombuilder donated some parts to the project. The truck will be accented in red, wheels, steering column, artwork, etc, and the blue I sprayed on is a 1978 corvette frost blue. Steve Fisher will be doing some artwork when I get it put together and then I will bury said artwork in suede clearcoat. I have tossed in a pic of the steering wheel and the custom horn ****on I made. The pics, except the interior shot have a green tint, must be the flourescent lighting in the booth.
What's the green called? Is the wheel flaked? If so, are you planning a red Zodiac interior? Cool horn ****on, also.
Its blue, for some reason unknown to me some of the pics are tinted. Zodiac? Yes on the flaked, superior 500.
"donated"??? you still owe me a thousand bucks for that ****!!! i did'nt think you'd EVER get done sanding on that thing and spray it ...
I like the blue. Glad it isn't that toothpaste green. I have seen 4 cars this week with some shade of that color. Nice work, lots left
Mikey,The cab was from a farm truck and it had 50 years of abuse before it was parked, and for the 1000th time, I'm no ****ing body man! But, yeah, I never thought I would get it painted either. Its a ***** when you are trying to get it perfect but have no idea what your doing. The horn center was one of those grant mustang horn ****ons. The nice thing about that ****on is it clips onto the standard universal horn plate. I made my own center with a giant ford lapel pin and some polyester resin. And Mike, I tried to give you that K-note 3 or 4 times in cl*** and you wouldnt take it, now I'm broke!
The bed, frame and drivetrain are at the house. The gl*** fenders are upstairs in the old mans garage. Are you taking cl*** this term?
if i get off my *** and get registered. i keep forgetting. i should do it now but i've been on here too long. time to go mow the yard and work on somethin old in the garage. i'm out.....
The pics really make me antsy to get back on my 46 1/2 ton. It`s been too hot to get much done for a long time now really looking forward to fall.. Jerry
Hot and from what I understand VERY dry. We've been lucky in Michigan to get some rain when its been a drought summer both north and south of us.
Thanks, I'm not to proud to get the help and advice of people who have far superior metal working skills than I have. I did the metal finishing and the polyester filler. Russ Pline did the panel and patch replacement. For some reason these body shop guys dont like the word bondo, what gives with that? After hammering the cab back into it basic shape I used a 12" wide piece of 18 gauge for my bondo spreader. I doubt there is any spot on the cab with filler thicker than 3/16", but it probably has 75% coverage. Learned that from watching Boyd.
