recently purchased two 44 phh mikuni and the manifold for a sbc motor. I know wolfcreek racing in long island can provide parts. I also have a photocopy of the manual produced by mikuni with a general info. on the sidedraft carb. does anyone have any additional info. on these carbs? any web site devoted to the mikuni for auto. use? Any suggustions would be welcomed. thanks mike cain horseheads, ny 607 796 0394
no they are not bike carbs. the 40 and 44 phh are japanese copies of the weber dcoe. I think solex developed them and then sold the design to mikuni. the phh are sidedraft carb used on asian cars in the 1970's. the pair i have have a small intake that attaches to the top of a sbc intake. i don't have a digtal camera or i would post a picture. I have a pair of 45 dcoes on a quad4 so i understand the sidedraft carb. somewhat. the mikuni is new to me and i can't find much info. on them.
No slight was intended, I ***ure you. I mention the bike thing, as I've seen Mikunis on many bikes and ATVs. If you do a Google searvh for "Mikuni side draft" you'll come up with references to them on old RX-7, Opels, and 280-Z boards. Here's a picture from the latter: http://cl***ifieds.hybridz.org/data/17/large/******_pics_00 ~Jason
My reply was too abrupt - sorry. Thanks for the hint on how to use google. When I typed in the right combination of words like you suggested I was able to find additional info. mikuni does make a lot of carbs. for bikes atv and snowmobiles. they are the flatsides and cv type.
The smaller Mikunis with the slide throttle are awesome on riding mowers. Good luck with your carbs! ~Jason
