well, the flamed truck is gone but....he wanted it bad and gave me a.. 49 chevy fastback-subframed, 250/auto., camaro rearend, see the pics for the reat. 51 chevy 2dr. sedan, original drivetrain, 12 volt, torq-thrust d's, runs and drives awesome. 64 Triumph bike brand-new fresh 350sbc complete carb to oilpan set of cal custom valve covers set of chrome reverse wheels all for my 53 GMC did I do ok? see pics!
Wish I could find a fleet around here that nice. I'll swap ya my 93 Nissan 4x4 extended cab parts hauler for it....
Eh, you did alright I guess . You are officially the man. That is awesome, congrats on that deal you made, incredible. Love that fastback. That 350 seems like it would be right at home in the 51. Once again, grats! Greg
your truck was really nice but you sure got some new cool toys to play around with, would be nice to see your future progress with them,
That must have been some ****ing truck, did it regenerate its own broken parts and change its own oil? Now you have 3x the fun. Nice work.
Lets see, 2 cars, a motorcycle and a running small block for one truck. I woulda taken that deal any day. Nice job!
Your the man!!...Nice starts,,that truck was sweet.. It looks like you got everything but his girl... Dirty
Rat he's a gentleman, just didn't tell us about the girl. Man, with deals like that you gotta change your name from Grumpy to lucky or Happy or something. You can give me the Grumpy name, my wife says it fits. Oh yeah, I too would keep Marilyn and her shrunken head hanging from the mirror. 3 nice rides for 1, sweet!!
I'm impressed, although I'd have to de-customize the fleetline with removal of add-on junk like spotlites, kickstand exhaust and [ahem] visor. The hood has just enough shine to see the guy did a helluva job on it...is the rest of the body work that nice? Not that you axed but I think I'd prolly keep the Marlyn Monroe but dump the dodgy pinstripes on the dash and hide the original heater controls. I'd prolly sell the aftermarket gauges at the next swap meet or use em in one of my other projects. The stockers will work fine with original senders and a voltage limiter.... But that's just me ramblin about if I owned that beautiful fleetline.....and I like the direction the sedan is headed too.....I'd take either one!
hey grump, good score!i been hopin you'd post soon, curly and i met you at canfeild, remember?i was wondering if you and your crew might want to roll into mentor june 6th,my buddy is having a grand opening car/chopper show at his shop,he's hping to get a local rockabilly bad and go-go dancers to dance on a pole in his shop...he built a pretty sweet chopper, frame and all,and is trying to make a go as a fab shop...e-mail me and let me know if you'd be interested,or anyone else for that matter....you can see his scoot at;leroythompsonchoppers.com....i'm out, quickrod
god damn, 3 for 1. not only is that a deal, you are one lucky mofo. i agree, you can't be grumpy anymore after that exchange. well, congrats on the deal, the fastback is awesome.
Ok, since you're prolly wondering, I'd also drop the headlight visors, body pinstripes and maybe even the skirts. [maybe not, I'd have to look at it both ways] Then, I'd pop in a pair of bell-tech dropped spindles, cut a coil and install a pair of 3 or 4" blocks in the back... The peep mirrors MIGHT get to stay but I dunno.............................
Holy Sh*t!!! That's the best deal I've ever seen. Was the guy you did the deal with an idiot or something? To make this deal perfect, you need to trade the sleds and the 350 for a hot rod with a hemi. You'd have a bike, a custom, and a hot rod. The perfect garage, if you ask me.
first off, Thanks for all the good words. hey, quickrod, we'll all be in Norwalk the 4th-6th at Blue Suede Cruise. sorry, sounds like a good time though. About the "cool customization" of the fleet, some's growing on me, some going away. and as far as the bodywork is concerned, it's a super solid, striaght car covered in questionable primer-job. I've been all over it for a few days looking for bad stuff, and none to be found. floors, trunk, quarters etc, all solid and rust-free. the 51 sedan is a great runner/driver, but needs some TLC. the bike has a 78 bonneville motor from what I've been told. I really don't know **** about bikes. other than it's ***led as a 64 and I sold it a couple hours ago for a reasonable amount. It also had a rebuilt motor, but didn't run(something about timing?!) again, thanks all
You ****...just kidding! But do you know what really ****s? Some guy is going to have to paint the truck now or else everyone is going to ask him "Is that Grumpy's truck?"
