    what ci sixes came in the 53 fords? also what is the stock horse power?

    1953 was the sophomore year of the 215" O.H.V. six with 101 H.P.

    216". Lots of good Ford stuff from later engines bolt on for more HP. Pretty stout little motors.

    its in a 53 4 door. im debating between buying that one or a 53 2 door coupe with a bad flathead. the 4door is going for 10k the 2door i need to convince the guy to sell to me still :) he wants to put a SBC in it. i yelled at him.

    Post #2 is correct. 215 cubic inch. The 223" engine became available in the '54 Ford truck.

    Offy still makes intakes and valve covers for these engines. They look nice dressed up.

    do they push the car well? the 170 in my falcon is a dog.

    I've not driven one. Closest I can compare too is my Fathers (now gone) '48 V8 Flathead. Had about the same power. Not a rocket ship but went ok.

    the 6 would be more reliable though? ***uming a rebuilt the flathead in the 2door.
