1953 buick help

I bought a 1953 buick. It only has "Super" wrote on it. It is a V-8 car and is a 2 door hardtop. Is it possible that it is a Roadmaster or Century or something like that, or did they made a "Super"? Also what size engine?? Thanks in advance..

 

Yes, Super was a model of Buick for many years.

 

I think but i might defanitly be wrong but the super was the hardtop and the special was a post. Both have 3 port holes on each side.

 

What's the body style number on the cowl tag, which should be on the upper surface of the firewall on the p***enger's side?

 

In 53 Buick made a Special and a Super they had 3 hole port holes. The Roadmaster had 4 port holes. The Super and the Roadmaster both came with the Fireball 8. 322ci engine. Check out this link for some more info http://www.tocmp.com/brochures/Buick/1953/index.htm

 

I often wonder why Buick made so many models. I'm working on a 54 Super 2 door hardtop and other then 3 instead of 4 portholes it's basically a Roadmaster. I suppose Roadmaster was trimmed nicer.

 

Special had a hardtop version and a sedan version. The Super was the medium price model and had the V-8. The Special, in 1953 was a straight eight.

 

As I recall the main feature of the Super was that it always came with the more powerful Roadmaster engine on the lighter Special's ch***is. I was also under the impression that the fourth porthole was added at some point to distinguish that fact. My dad had a 57 Super with the 4 portholes but I am not sure if that applies to the 53.

A kid once sent a letter to Buick asking what the ports really were. After many weeks the reply said that they were "Stratocruiser Portolets" LOL!

 

I can't say for all years but 54 the Super is on the Roadmaster ch***is.

The 53 Biuck super had three port holes and a 2 barrel carb.
The 35 Buick Roadmaster had 4 port holes and a 4 barrel carb. In the 50's all hard tops were call Riverias. The Special had a longer wheelbase, in line 8 and a 6 volt elect. system were the Super and Roadmaster had V-8 and 12 volt system.
