My cousin just sent me this pic of my Dad with my coupe back in '65. I have never seen this pic before! It must have come from my uncle's pics. He bought it in late summer of '64 so this must be when they got it put back together from paint. Judging by the empty fields on Grandma's farm, It looks to be the spring of '65. 1965 2007 Here's the only other pic I know of... This past fall...
Man those pics pull at the heart strings. My brother had a beautiful 36 but sold it because of a girl and wanting money for engagement rings etc. And yep he regrets sellin' it every day since! Here's a pic taken about 1981 with my Dad (since p***ed away) at wheel. Another couple.
Very cool that you have Dad's old ride! I bet he digs that as much as you do. I saw your ride at the '06 pileup......very cool. Jeff
Thanks! I'll have to ask about the sweater! For those that don't know, she still is wearing her mid-sixties paint job...
Wow, it's not only cool to have the pics to go with the car, but also cool that you appreciate what you have.
to steal a line from Hot Rod or Car Craft from 20 years ago or so... The only way that car could sit better is if it were on a throne. I love it. My favorite 36 ever
Cool Pics! I plan on p***ing my coupe that Ive had since 1974 down to my son. There will be lots of Pictures to go with it.
Hey Django I'm diggin the pics. That red stripe on the old pics is way cool. Cant tell from the new pics if it's still there. If not you should consider it. Saweet!
Hey Chad -- Thanks for the pix. Your coupe is one of my favorites, besides the history it's got the perfect stance. How did your dad set it up? And then what did you do to give it that second-generation at***ude?
I plan on leaving my '32 5w to my son, providing he is willing to pay my wife current market value I'm thinking somewhere around $750,000 at the current rate of inflated "values" on these things.Of course that figure could go up if I live longer that another 10 years. Frank
My '29 roadster came from my dad, and it'll go to my son... He's been driving it the last couple of years anyway, so maybe I won't make him wait till I kick the bucket. It used to sit up in the air like Django's dad's coupe.
Sweet lookin' ride ...just when you think you are done with the pics of marginal cars here is one that really peaks my interest. Jealousy is a wonderful thing. Fitysix
That is cool. I wish I had one of my dad's old cars. Most probably ended up in the crusher. I need to start a thread and see if anyone knows what happen to his old '32 sedan. If I have any chance of finding it, this would be the place.
I don't think Dad and my uncle did too much to it to hop it up. My uncle was a purist and always helped Dad out. So pushed for the car to stay fairly stock. After he p***ed away in '85, the torches came out. Dad got a Gibbon Cordoba torsion bar kit for it. He had Steve the Greek put in a 4 link. I painted the frame (my senior year of high school) in my other uncle's garage. He bought a nice '65 comet with a great running 289. For whatever reason though he didn't really get any further than this pic. I took this pic the summer of '97 when he gave it to me. We were taking her to a shop to get new floors and a *****en firewall. After it came back it got shoved back into the barn yet again thanks to a divorce from my first wife. Finally in 2003 I was in a position to start working on it again and with the help of several friends and my Dad, we got her back on the road in the spring of 2005. Along the way she's had 2 flatheads, a 289 and 2 302s, BUT only the first flatty and the 302s ever turned a wheel in anger. The rebuilt flathead that we pulled out is sitting in one of our storage buildings behind the barn. Dad wants me to bring it up to the shop (HRCC) and make a display out of it. Ultimately we are going to rework the ch***is. As for paint? Dad and I always discussed repainting it. I don't know though. I go back and forth. I would like to redo all the patch panels and blend in the paint so it looks like it was never fixed.
