I am trying to decide on putting whitewalls on my truck. It is a 66 (basic same body from 60-66) Chevy C-10 stepside. I bought a set of 15X6 steel wheels for it, to replace the 15 X 8.5 outlaw IIs. I will paint the wheels (undecided on color) and run a 225 75 15. Truck will be bagged as well.

Is my truck too new for wide whites to look right?

According to Chevy, 1966 trucks 10-30 series: "With all solid colors and the black/off-white two tone combination, wheels are painted black. With all other two tone combinations, wheels are painted the main body color"

in real life, paint them so they look good. Usually that means not white or red

How about some red lines instead? But I think the white walls would be fine so....

I think it would look fine...what it comes down to is..its YOUR truck...do what you want...even if the traditional police don't like it! :D......Like chaddilac said..post a pic, so it can be photo shopped.....Personally, I like those trucks with supremes and a smaller whitewall...but thats me..:)

I don't mind wide whites on 'em at all.

I like the idea of painting the rims body color. But, I agree, it's your truck build it how you see fit.

I took a picture tonight, but I can't compress the file enoough to post it. I usually use Photobucket, but it is not working. Is there any other way to downsize the picture?
    thanks,

They look great with wide whites and they look good with pinner whites on Supremes or chromed wheels.
White walls the only way to fly!

  17. wide whites were out of style by'62.

  18. In my mind, it sounded like a bad idea, but seeing those pictures of other trucks with whitewalls, they look pretty good, so I'd say go for it.

Put something that can handle the weight of the truck though.

Here is a picture of the truck and the steel wheels. I painted them 4 different colors trying to decide. Can someone please photoshop one of the wheels and wide whites on the truck?
    thanks,

  20. If it's the same basic body as a 60, I'd say it'd be fine.

  21. I like the dark green out of those 4 choices. I might lighten it up a bit, so it don't look black at a glance or in the shade

Here's a pic of one I once owned. Now owned by another HAMBer.

I had www's and supremes. I didn't much care whether anyone else liked it or not. We liked it.
But, for reference sake, here it is with pinner whites on chrome smoothies too.

You decide. I just liked it better with the www's. You know about opinions.......:D

  26. To me it looks great with the wide whitewalls and supremes! The thin whitewalls look kind of ho-hum in comparison when you see them side by side like that.

  27. I agree. That's a shocking visual

Nice truck, I have the same one and I'm in the process of the same shit with it. I was also wondering if I should put ww's on it and I just said fuck it! It's my damn truck and why should I care what some eliteist asshole's opinion about it is! I just like ww's an I just love these trucks. I also did my wheels red at first but then I changed my mind there are just so many red wheels, I haven't picked a new color yet. These trucks look sweet when their slammed, but not so sweet when their not. they look a little too much like an old farmer truck......no offense to any farmers......Peace out!
