I almost tripped over this in a barn right outside of Mustang, Oklahoma today. Thing is I don't think I'll be able to get it. I went out to help a buddy of mine feed his dad's cows while he was out of town and there it was sitting in the barn. They have no old cars, don't even like old cars. It was his grandfathers and has been sitting in the same spot for at least a decade. Luckily it was under a tarp and the carbs are taped up. I am not much into flatheads and have no idea what carbs are on it, etc, etc... His father doesn't know what it is other than an "old engine" but won't budge when it comes to selling it because it was his dad's. It'll probably be in that barn for at least another few decades! http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v156/sandstormII/?action=view¤t=0104081441-00.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v156/sandstormII/?action=view¤t=0104081442-00.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v156/sandstormII/?action=view¤t=0104081443-00.jpg
I thinks I see triple deucies and some finned heads there. Possibly a cam? Yes, she needs to be run again. It rotting in the garage is making pops uneasy, I just know it.
8BA . 56A type heads. Bet there's a few goodies in there. Whats the trans? early 50's Ford 3 speed? . i agree with ther other guys ,tell him you'd liker to buy the engine to get it running in granddads memory. Granddad might have been a hell raiser too...LOL! . You could ask your friend if theres any pictures of grandad and his flattie powered rod.
Hey sweetie, if you use the last image tag (the one listed for forums and bullintin boards) outta the four listed instead of the top one, your photos would actually show here instead of just the links. BUT you also need to change the max image size option to "message board" so the photos don't show up HUGE. This option it located right above the first word "browse" in your Photobucket acct.
THOSE MATER CAGES LOOK TO BE RESTORABLE ALSO .. if you almost tripped over this engine what else in the barn that forced you to walk over it? I say boat anchor but I have just the rope and boat
thats ****in stupid..they hate old cars, dont know anything about the motor, dont care about the motor, but yet, they want it to lay and rot cause it was gramps???? is that the only thing grampa left them was a motor the dont like???? tell the dad he is a didlo!
No thats not stupid. I have a few things[guns] that belonged to my Dad that no amount of money could buy. I'm not a hunter either. Maybe I was just closer to my Dad. Don't insult the man but tell him you would like it if he ever gets rid of it. TP
dont insult me by makin it sound like you loved your dad more.. it has been stated that they could give a **** about it, never goin to do anything with it, thats a bit different then your guns..unless you have them layin in a barn to rot and dont care! i could could care less about the motor. but someone could have it in a hot rod...that would be a much better tribute to grampa then lettin cows **** on it!
Do you see any cow **** on it? To me, it looks amazingly clean except for a little straw. Anyway, hasn't this subject been beat to death before?
yes! i think im just pissin and moanin cause i have the flu! ill shut up now! hope someone scores it one day! GOD BLESS!
Agreed ,it would be better if someone that appreciates it ends up with it. I have the guns in the attic. I feel bad about that sometimes too. Did not intend on insulting you either Breeder. I don't haver the flu though.
Keeping with the Ray Charles theme, if you really want this engine--as Brother Ray once said--let Lincoln and Jackson start shakin' hands. Seriously, act all nice--and money! Bring money. Good luck! I need one of those transmissions (but overdrive) for my shoebox, so I'm already envious.
how about offering to get it on an engine stand or better yet in a car and running for him if he sees you are more interested in saving it than owning it he will know it would go to good hands and may be more inclined to sell it. if not you still have a fun project to work on and it would be set up so he could run it every once in awile to keep it fresh
Hang it from the hay loft hook with a winch motor and Ma can lower it and ring it like a dinner bell and to call the cows home. Thanks, Kurt
Can ya'll tell me what kind of carbs are on it and what kind of transmission that is? I know nearly nothing about flatheads and but am very curious about this one. If I do get the motor it will not be any time soon because I leave for 7 months of military air traffic control training Tuesday.
