I saw a dash like that in a neat restored old car in a local show. I think it was a '31 Cadillac. Except on that one, the dash was polished br***. That sunburst pattern milled into the dash really caught my eye and it was one of the coolest things on the whole car.
Nice...one of my favorite treats is looking at early '30's cl***ics' dashboards at Hershey. I'm sure the owners would string me right up if they knew where I would like to put their dashboards! A V-8 Caddy of that period is way down at the bottom of the line, too! Does the distributor on that thing have a tag?? From general look and the apparent vac barke., it looks like a circa 1930 Mallory, not a Delco. Can anyone think of any real production car ever that had a more carefully styled and detailed engine than Cadillac 8-12-16 cars of this period?
I didn't post the whole car because it was one of those damn restorers that save these old cars till us Rodders get around to fixing them 1931 Cadillac
Exactly! The details are the best parts in any car in my opinion Looking at his key position, how's he plan to keep the keys from banging into the dash while driving? Thats the same problem I have with my '32 dash I built for my 29 A Sedan.
Bruce, I have one of those Mallory distributors. Picked it up a while ago from HEATHEN. Looks the same as the one in the pictures.
I have one for my 27 t thats for 8's 12's have an engine turned pannel on either side and v-16's have a different dash imagine that insert in a 27 t roadster Does anyone have a spare set of gauges????
How many keys do you have? A bunch of keys hanging actually abnormally wears the ignition switch, I have no more than three keys for any keychain. The dash is awesome by the way, some of the best things I have found are stock parts from the higher end cars of the day.....
Yeah, you should just have the original keys in the little leather holster the dealers handed out...your butler can carry the other keys fine. If you just have to carry all your keys around, just decrease the car's rake a bit...
That's the same dash my brother has in his '29 pickup. I saw it at a swap, but it had a big notch cut out of the bottom center. Think some Bozo wanted to remove the ignition switch the hard way. I p***ed it up. Bro bought it and just narrowed the whole thing three inches. Now why didn't I think of that?!?
That isn't the factory ammeter, i have one in decent shape out of my dash, the face is a little faded might need a little cleaning up but still has the gl*** and the needle, i've just about given up finding the rest of the gauges so i might be talked out of it
There is a dash on e-bay that has the same type look ,with gages for $38.00 now . It needs work . Its under 37 plymouth parts
As Alchemy said, the dash I bought had the lower center section of the ignition switch cut out which ruined the cool (br***) sunburst flat insert. So, I just narrowed the whole dash to make it have only one big gauge in the center. I TIG welded the stainless insert back together and then made a new aluminum flat panel for the center. Had to do some other mods to make the ends fit into the '29 Ford cowl, but now it looks like it grew there. I've never seen another in a hot rod, only restored Cad's.
The purests will probably ****, but I put that same type dash from a 31 Cad in my 32 Ford PU about 4 years ago. Sectioned about 1.5 inchs out of the length on each end and it was dam near a bolt in. It looked like it was stock when we got done.
Well, I know it sounds trivial, but to have a daily driver Model A, one needs the house keys, shop keys, toolbox keys, the keys and remotes for the other cars........... they add up fast. I'll just have to get a quick release keyring thing and get used to using it.
