my shop has been pretty bare these last few months, except for bikes.so i just picked up a 64 plymouth valiant slant 6, it runs and drives really well, and the condition af the rest is good. got it real cheap and it was only a few blocks from home. i know these are by no means kustom cool or anything, but it will be fun to bomb around town in anyway. figure i will jack the front end up and just make it look fast, until i decide to keep it and drop in a hemi or some ****, or sell it and make a little extra bread. well i was wondering if anyone has a valiant and can give me a heads up on what's gonna **** me down the road, and maybe if anyone has some parts lying around i might need. for some reason i can't get windshield wipers for this thing anywere. well whatever i will put some pics up this weekend just for fun. dusty
oh yea when i picked the thing up it was stuck in a snow bank with two flat tires so i pumped them up and pulled it out, put in a battery did a few other things and got it runnin , didnt think to check the lug nuts only going like a mile to my shop, so got up to speed like 30mph and heard a wierd t******* so right as i stepped on the brake to pull over the front drivers tire flies off and rolls past me the car tipped that way and showered me in sparks . never had that happen it was pretty funny, took like a fifteen min to find all the lug nuts. i am pretty sure that will never happen to me again. dusty
The slant 6 has a great rep, and will bomb along for quite a while. When they get tuned up you need to set the valve lash;if it hasn't been done for a while you may find it makes the motor quieter and a bit more powerful. I'd get under it as soon as it's convenient to see what shape the underbody and K-frame are in. Pay particular attention to the torsion bar mounts and leaf spring mounts. Rust in either location isn't a dealbreaker, but means extra work.
COOL TANKS FOR THE ADVICE joe your car is real nice , i wish mine was a two door cant wait to get started on my heap needs alot of cleaning up on the rust, i will snap some pics soon
