  1. Several years ago I traded with a friend for a cast aluminum six gauge dash panel. It was the first part I aquired for my current 26 Model T sedan build.

Yesterday I used the panel as a template to cut the gauge holes in the dash.

I've set the gauges in place with and without the aluminum panel. I really want to use it. But I am concerned that it will be "to much" for the relatively small T dash board. What do you think.

My opinion,T's were plain and simple with no frills. I like'm that way

  4. How would you fasten the little panel to the dash? Will the gauges alone hold it? That way you could try it out w/o drilling holes in the dash.

    Thanks,
    Kurt

It will be polished and turned hopefully. Of course, It will look good if the rest of the interior is spit and polish too. If not, just the stock T dash is the way to go.

  8. The little panel is up-side-down though ! The curved edge should be on top.

I think it looks good with the panel, looks too plain with only the gauges stuck in the dash.

i think use the panel. when it is painted, the aluminum will break it up nice. it is almost too smooth without it, in my opinion.

  11. The Insert looks good, but you might try doing something with the center of it- engine turning, paint, etc to blend it in better.

  12. We filled the '27 T dash and used a Haneline 1932 machined turned insert and mounted a 3 3/8 speedo and a 4-in-one 3 3/8 guage.
Using a Moon Tach on the column.
    Nice & Simple!

  16. The gauges will hold it on just fine.

Mr. Bibb, before you decide, shoot some primer on the dash so you have a contrast between panel and dash.

Right now, imo, it's hard to tell with both metals being so close in color,

Nice part is, if you do use it and get tired of it, no big deal to pull the instruments, remove the panel and go back to a plain painted dash.

Although a little paint touchup would be required due to panel wear on the dash.

I think I like the use of the panel best, although it looks good without it also. I spread my gauges out a bit more and covered my wavy hammer welding with the upholstery material. (The hyde if the mighty Nauga). Your work bench looks entirely too clean! Disgusting! pigpen

I have seen the Auburn dash used in the '27 T. That looks fantastic! The fibergl*** one for Model A's from Wescott's can be trimmed to fit.
